I want an enemy that's practically IMPOSSIBLE to beat outsid

I definitely support this. I liked how in Bloodmoon, there was that random chance that you'd encounter a Nord Warrior in the tombs that was like level 99 or something? And insanely hard to kill. That's fun to me. I wish they'd do more like that.

A new, stronger, Umbra maybe?

I was just thinking about her. IMO she was without a doubt the most awesome enemy in OB :) I had to pre plan the entire fight before facing her, especially at low levels...but hopefull in Skyrim there will be an even stronger Umbra(should have a custom Umbra armor ) or something along those lines.

Running into a tribe of crazy giants att lvl 2 and getting my knees and skull bashed into pieces before even reaching to sprint the other way would be epic.

Good idea. I would prefer it if there was no specific quest for it too. Perhaps hints of a secret location in books that you find, but nothing specific.

I would love there to be a few of these. Some at the end of crazy dungeons that if you can hardly make it through your going to be murdered. The others would be hidden like say a water monster in a cave hidden behind a waterfall.

Stealth kills makes all challenging enemies like any other encounter though; I imagine they really have to make it special than just pumped stats to be enjoyable.

it said in the last issue that daggers do something like 10x damage when your stealth, it didn't say anything about instant stealth kills that would kill any enemy.

Why would I want an enemy that is "practically" impossible to defeat rather than "hypothetically" imposible? :P

Yes, that's what I have been suggesting times and again.

There should be areas, or dungeons, that are not part of the major quest lines, that are too tough even for high level characters, so that people can have ongoing challenge to conquer even when they have beaten the main quest.

People can keep developing their characters to be able to conquer those areas one by one, but there should still be places that could take months to finally conquer.

A place that takes months to conquer? Thats ridiculous. Is that your definition of "hardcoe"? Ive never ever played anything that has taken me literally months to beat.

Did you ever play FFVII? Ruby weapon & Emerald Weapon were that tough. I beat the main story on a relatively low level, so it took me a long while (like a month) to beat both of those guys. I'm sure it took some people shorter but I'm pretty damn good at those games, and that how long it took me at the pace that i was playing.

Why?

What if there was such a secluded place in an open world game, and then finally some player jumps in the official forums and announces that finally he has conquered the "Nocturnal Catacombs" to the "Heart of the nightmare" chamber, without any cheats.

And people would gather and ask, how the hell could he beat the guardians before the last chamber, and similar questions.

It would be like an ongoing contest for the players.

Back in the day i played everquest OA for ps2. there was a monster, clockwork something (i forget i know clockwork was in the name though) that was so tough you needed a whole guild of peopel to beat it. i remember when someone finally beat it people were talking about it on other servers:

"did you hear this guild beat clockwork "something" on the _______ server."
"How'd they do it!!!???, me and all my maxed out/ top level friends went up there and got our asses handed to us

then soon after that other guilds started beating him on a lot, but that first time was impressive.

yes that's exactly what i mean.

preparation for this battle will be epic. You need to have all the skills, items, potions, and spells just perfect to beat him. I'm talking about a REAL challenge the likes of which have never been seen in a TES game.

I would love it if dragons were nigh impossible to kill early on, but as you grew into a more powerful hero/dragonborn, they would progressively become easier and easier.

That would give a good sense of how your character was progressing.

Something like the Temple of Enlightenment in Lost Odyssey? Not leveled enough, you wouldn't even get inside. And those rotating walkways on top of the hardest monsters in the game. If TES has something that nasty, I'm definitely in.

I still can't get over the fact that they're level scaling again. Things like this would be awesome.

I want to walk into an area and be like "OH [censored]!" and run for my life.

Instead, assuming it's exactly like Fallout 3's level scaling (which last I heard it is), then at most it's "Uh oh..." followed by a slightly-more-difficult-than-normal battle, that's no reason to run away from.

But oh well, that's how it is. I'm just glad the modders will take care of it.

Yes please! I want to find out that there is a Dragon who is the top dog, erm, Dragon and will seriously lack the smack down upon thee, unless you reach Demigod like proportions.

Also make it a black Dragon :D

This reminds me of the Samurai Jack episode called Jack and the travelling creatures. He has to pass three tests then defeat a Guardian to use the portal, only to be told by the Guardian that he isnt the one that defeats him. But at the end of the episode you see a glimpse of the warrior that beats the Guardian, and its Jack, only far in the future when he's much stronger.

Just had a thought, there is a level cap. Its expected that your skills can only get to 100. So there must be a level cap for your character, as you cant progeress past 100 surely. So any enemy would have to be well above that cap or at least your current level.

I think it'd be interesting to have a group of impossible foes. Like a ridiculously powerful mage, some hyped up Umbra character, and a legendary assassin. Not all at the same time of course.

According to the GI article, there is no level cap. Your skills keep going above 100, and your level keeps going over 50. But once you reach level 50, you level much slower and you can't pick any more perks.
