I want an enemy that's practically IMPOSSIBLE to beat outsid

Yeah but he is a hermit who has lived for 100's of years, and he gave up on humanity long ago. He doesn't meddle in the affairs of weak men.

Gotcha. I was just being an ass. :hehe:

And we're suppose to go and beat up this poor old man? Maybe... WE'RE the Ultimate Enemy

Like the Legendary Deathclaw in NV. Man he was a strong.

I managed to kill it before it even reached me. In fact, I managed to kill it before its alert response even triggered. It died literally instantly.

Well he has been cursed with immortality, and the only way he can lift the curse is to be killed in one on one combat. The curse doesn't allow for him to die unless he was actually trying to kill his oppenent... or something.

So... You've finally come.
You look so much like him... But that was hundreds of years ago. Maybe loneliness has addled my mind.
And regret.
You know he threw me down a mountain ? Left me for dead, he did. I damn near was too...
All I ever did was to love him.
That's the day I learned that the world punishes those who love unconditionally... Those who... adore.
COME THEN, AND MEET YOU FATE!! THE ADORING FAN RAN OUT OF WORDS LONG AGO!

I remember umbra in morrowind being a challenge to beat, unless it has been so long that I am remembering things wrong. I was so disappointed in the Umbra of Oblivion who didn't have that strong of an attack and just took a few extra hits to kill.

These kind of bosses are so fun. I hope they add something crazy in Skyrim. But yeah, it is primarily a JRPG thing, but it's not unheard of.

If you ever played Final Fantasy VII, then you'll remember Ruby Weapon (or to a lesser extent, emerald weapon). It took me months after i beat the game to take him on. The Final Fantasy's have done this with a lot of their games and i think it's something Bethesda should consider.

Maybe some Dragon in a huge underground cavern, that doesn't level scale, and it takes a super-high level character to beat, with some reward that's really worth it.

Or a master swordsman, who lives on top of one of the largest mountain who is seemingly impossible to best.

Something along these line I would love in Skyrim, or at least one of the expansions.

YEAH!!!! thats a great idea, man i loved the challenge of emerald and ruby weapon, i used knights of round combined with HP absorb, with mime, and if you had another character with mime even easier and faster, ruby however, the best way to beat him was to enter the battle with all other teammates dead, and i think it was final summon, combined with life2 and your practially invincible, so yeah a super insane adversary would be a perfect addition to this game, because once your all powerful every enemy is just to easy and boring eventually, ya know what would be even cooler? is if they added something like the monster farmer from final fantasy 10, so you could have a vast variety of god-like adversarys to battle taking it to the next level for your challenge with massive bonus's and payouts, but they should only add such a feature after the MQ has been completed so theres a huge bunch of extras to do so the game doesnt really end.

like i said, Baldur's gate 2 did it with a couple dragons: Firkraag and that one at the exit to the Underdark. They were both much harder than Irenicus

Irenicus battle walkthrough:

Equip Boots of speed
Equip Ranged weapon
the rest is obvious.

The last boss should always be the hardest. This I mean the main quest boss which will probably be Alduin.

But I hope there are plenty of high level bosses to fight.

Great Were-Shark anyone?

I disagree, my favorite boss battles of all time:

5) Nemesis (FF10)
4)Firkraag (BG2)
3) Culex (Mario RPG)
2) Sephiroth from Kingdom Hearts
1) Ruby and Emerald weapon (FF7)

Honorable mention: Mani Mani Statue (EarthBound)

all of the numbered ones were harder than the final boss and not even needed to be dealt with at any point of the game unless you wanted to. I think it makes post-main quest much more exciting.
I just mention Mani Mani cause i wanted to Rep Earthbound

Yes.

Let's not talk about mods. That gives us lazy developers.

I wholeheartedly agree. I love making mistakes and coming back to 'fix' them later.

One specific moment I remember in morrowind. I was exploring a tomb of dead things and a zombie (I forget what it was actually) which was pretty strong started attacking me. I was doing alright and was draining health potions and I managed to kill it! Problem was, he had drained all my strength and I could only carry 10 pounds. So, what does a new player do? Reload. I try fighting again with same results. Because I am stubborn and I knew i could beat him (and there was a chest with unknown shiny things behind him), I beat him and dropped everything, I improvised within the game. I ran to town naked, got healed/dispelled and went back for my things. I felt very smart and victorious.

I didn't have any of those feelings in Oblivion.

I'm sure there will be many mods that will do just this, and more :)

I hate that mentality.

I want to knocked off a mountain by this guy. Until I'm level 50!

Yeah, I like whoever coined the term on this forum "Mod Mentality" a pun off "Mob Mentality".

It's a problem on this forum.

I vote this one. I want to fight the old adoring fan in Skyrim. Elves can live a couple hundreds of years, right?

I like how its done in Final Fantasy games, it is an optional boss not part of the main quest.

I do love hidden super bosses, especially when they make even the main villain of the game look like a pushover. Doubt we'll get one though. Those usually seem more common in JRPGs. Heck, even Culex in the original Mario RPG was awesome :)

Indeed, great music.

You know, I would like to see some good boss style music though. Perhaps there could be a simple flag in the CS that flagged a character as a boss, so their fight music would be a different selection.

I want to hear stuff like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ol8h75ObeZQ Music like that seals the deal. You can't just have a really hard boss, you have to have the atmosphere, setting, and music to create a perfect stage for a memorable fight.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LDuhSdtvhUY&feature=related Dear lord, hear that viking like "HO OH!"? That would fit Skyrim perfectly.

Hardest single enemy was Draconis IMO, although it's from Throne of Bhaal.

A dragon that went invisible to heal, would cast breach and other buff removal spells - removing your ability to see through his improved invisibility, and of course did a ton of damage since he was a dragon.
