I want an enemy that's practically IMPOSSIBLE to beat outsid

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 8:42 pm

So... You've finally come.
You look so much like him... But that was hundreds of years ago. Maybe loneliness has addled my mind.
And regret.
You know he threw me down a mountain ? Left me for dead, he did. I damn near was too...
All I ever did was to love him.
That's the day I learned that the world punishes those who love unconditionally... Those who... adore.
COME THEN, AND MEET YOU FATE!! THE ADORING FAN RAN OUT OF WORDS LONG AGO!

I'd just beg for my life right there lol! :D

Just one ultra-enemy? There should be a bunch scattered in the furthest regions of the map. That's the type of stuff that we were denied by the bad level-scaling in Oblivion.

Also, part of this is that the game should never make it so that the character is 100% armor / 100% invisible / etc... where nothing could possibly beat you.

If they had it I wouldn't care, but I prefer not because I svck at combat so unless I can run around it real fast to hit it a little at a time then no thanks.

Hardest single enemy was Draconis IMO, although it's from Throne of Bhaal.

A dragon that went invisible to heal, would cast breach and other buff removal spells - removing your ability to see through his improved invisibility, and of course did a ton of damage since he was a dragon.

Yeah never got into ToB. I just stopped playing soon after the beginning and returned the game like a month after i stopped. My Sorcerer was too powerful made the game too easy. It was my fault though for removing experience cap on the original Shadow's of Amn.

I would just stop time 6 times on that dragon, cast kill cloud and other awesome spells(its been a while i forgot lots of the spell names) while stopped, and he would be history.

But yeah enough about baldur's gate... I would of liked a trilogy though...

I really glad you're not designing the game... no offense, really. I'm just happy your not.

You mean like Gaenor?

Be careful for what you wish for.

Personally, I vote no. Or, if there is an opponent like this, please keep it optional for those players who enjoy this sort of challenge.

Of course, if you could TALK this opponent to death, I'd go for that.

Personally, I'd like to see several large groups of bandits/mercenaries/raiders(whatever you want to call them), with established territory in the gameworld(around major cities etc.) that travel from campsite to campsite, terrorizing anyone that stumbles across their path. Each band would have an infamous reputation among the NPCs that live in the cities nearby and each band would have a leader of ultimate skill as well as loot or gear that is unique in the game. When I say unique, I don't mean a generic weapon or armor with a unique enchantment attached--I mean a unique weapon or outfit that can't be found anywhere else in the game. No scaling for these groups either--the leader from the start of the game until the end would be as powerful as you at your very best and combined with a large group of men of varying degrees of skill at his side--the group as a whole would have to be avoided at all costs, at least until you are well levelled in the game, and even then victory should be a struggle.

Yes. That would be awesome. Be it a Dragon hidden away, or a Master of the sword/bow/magic, And I would LOVE if they were even 1/10th as hard as Ruby Weapon was. Hell, have multiple. One completely random( encounter type, just imagine, strolling through the woods, BAM, a Boss type is here to fight.

Well the basis thread is to add something that IS optional.

And Gaenor was completely optional...

What reward would be worthwhile if you already have the power to beat the most powerful thing in the game world? Just give us a cheev and something fancy looking in-game and be done with it.

something like the ability to levitate would be a cool reward. Or a really cool looking weapon of your choice thats also pretty much a one hit kill on most things. I think they could make some fun things.

does anyone remember sheogorath? fighting sheogorath, without him sending you above the island is basically a super enemy, he is level 255 and his magic very powerful lots of life, i cant remembar how, i think it was for the pc i was able to fight him somehow, but that was oblivion, the game mechanics wouldnt allow for a much more challenging battle like skyrim would, he wasnt impossible but challenging

Weird. I play on 360 and i thought Sheogorath was disappointingly easy.

what are you talking about? you cant fight him on the 360 he sends you above the island to fall to your death, i think i was able to make someoneelse attack him while they were trying to attack me and that broke the script for assault to him

Hmmm... I would like that but it won't quite feel right... Fighting something more powerful than Alduin? The divine wrath of the gods that is powerful enough to destroy an entire world, and swallow it whole?

Sub-bosses with some amazing loot are always very welcome. Dragon Age does a nice work on that (Andraste, the Lighining Dragon in Awakening, etc...).

It should be Tosh Raka... idk how... but u shuldnt killhim. after a cerain amount of the fight he shuld run away and drop something like a claw or a tooth. u can have it made into a very powerful weapon or maybe scales that turn into armor.

You know, I would like to see some good boss style music though. Perhaps there could be a simple flag in the CS that flagged a character as a boss, so their fight music would be a different selection.

I want to hear stuff like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ol8h75ObeZQ Music like that seals the deal. You can't just have a really hard boss, you have to have the atmosphere, setting, and music to create a perfect stage for a memorable fight.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LDuhSdtvhUY&feature=related Dear lord, hear that viking like "HO OH!"? That would fit Skyrim perfectly.

I agree, this is a fantastic suggestion. Music makes boss fights so much more memorable. I would love to see this for TES. : ) I'd say that deserves it's own thread even.

Hmmm. Dragon Age had one of these. Actually killed my party and got my main character to half hp! I still managed to get the achievement for beating the game on the hardest difficuly without changing it and not having the pc fall in combat though. Yay for blood mage + arcane warrior ... so broken :\.

Anyway, I can see them doing this by forking the MQ at the end. There's a way to seal Alduin off from entering the world (the good, safe option), but that is for girls. You are a MAN, so you let him through that portal, tear out some chest hair, stuff it down his throat, and kick his ass back through it. This should be really really hard, and if you fail it gives an epilogue telling you how badly you screwed up instead of letting you load your last save. If you win, you get a really, really awesome dragon shout, weapon, armor, eternal manliness. and a constant buff that halves the duration of stun, knockdown, etc on the pc.
