I want goods from the game

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 11:55 am

It would be really interesting to have some goods with the new game such as real septim coins, soul gems or other game stuff...Or I would be happy if they produced real swords that we could buy paying extra money... Thinking of a real elven sword on my wall makes me crazy!! Have you ever imagined such a thing or am I just insane?

When I was in 7th grade I went to http://www.medievaltimes.com/. Great stuff - very realistic joust, drinking Coca-Cola from pewter mugs, massive legs of chicken, and enough lighting by torch to make you want to enter a seizure. I bought a junky plywood sword there for about ten bucks - they had authentic replicas of actual weaponry on sale as well (for the advlt enthusiasts I guess), and even the tiniest dagger was several hundred in price. I don't think Bethesda nor its fans have the money to deal in weaponry just yet. :P

I do want more miscellaneous paraphernia in TES V, though. Even the regular edition should have a nice box, a thick in-character manual, perhaps a map, et cetera. It's little goodies like that which help to make the entire experience that much more real...and worthy of fifty dollars.

I just thought about fake weapons having the same look with the ones in the game.. That might be cheaper.. or not? :( Coins can be cheaper perhaps..

I was just about to tell the idea of building a town with the same look with one of the towns in the game for entertainment... Think of walking inside of chorrol... Well, never mind that's just a crazy idea :P

I have claymores, but they're nothing like those in the game. The ones in the game would shatter ;)

Keyboard done in Daedric letters

Kind of like the http://www.zboard.nl/producten/lek.php keysets? Sounds good. :)

Overall, I think Bethesda should push a lot more merchandise - it'd help their finances and really help break up the monotony whilst waiting between games.

THAT is such a rip off. You can buy a real Katana at the airport in Japan for less than $100. You can buy a set of Ginsu Steak Knives for like $50. So $300+ For a "replica" dagger is an absolute rip off. Not to mention the swords which prolly cost at over a grand there at Midieval Times.

Not a very good one, you can't.

I went to Medieval when I was 6 years old...

And it was awesome.

Don't they have a replica septim in the collector's edition?

While not in the realm of possibility to begin with, unless it's for a contest of sorts, swords would be neat.
Although I fear I'm in one of those countries...
Because toy guns can be used for crime...

I think I read somewhere that 500$ was low for a functional replica katana. Sound about right?

Some ideas for merchandise I would like to see:

1) Pewter figurines of the Daedric shrines/statues
2) An amulet of Kings
3) Figurines of the lesser daedra creatures
4) Some of those factions banners/standards or whatever you call 'em to hang on the wall
5) Shields
6) A brief history of the empire, or a pocket guide in print
7) Skooma energy drinks :)

Not really. Check out prices http://www.lastlegend.com/ (scroll down a bit to the links to vendors).

Went to Medieval Times a few years ago, all their merchandise was hideously overpriced.

Weapon replicas would be cool. If real is too expensive/illegal to own where you live/difficult to produce, what about latex like those boffer-type weapons you see in LARPs? Some are very well made, not at all like the 'pool noodle lightsaber' you sometimes see. It would be safer, cheaper, and I don't think anywhere considers them illegal... do they?

Action figures, statues, and any other type of goodies would be well recieved too. I like the idea of plush toys as well. Couldn't you just picture a dremora or scamp plushie? How cute!

That's what I'm talking about... Here are some other ideas:

1-Phosphorescent soul gems shining in the dark
2-Replicas of the in-game books
3-Scrolls of spells
4-Varla, welkynd or sigil stones

Anyone having more ideas??

I hope they will do it again with the new game...

Morrowind, Oblivion, and Fallout 3 all had Collector's Editions with swag and I think it's likely this trend will continue.

As for swords that seems like a better topic for the http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=1054636 thread. Simply due to size restrictions a sword is unlikely to be bundled with the game, but the laws surrounding cutlery would also make it difficult. I could see something like this happening (in fact a Kit Rae sword was used as http://www.elderscrolls.com/images/art/mwpc/mwind_web42B.jpg during Morrowind's developement) but I think it's unlikely.
