Indeed. This was an egregious omission from FO3.

ME too. Even if it was not real-time drivable like Fallout 3's FWE's motorcycle, or Fallout NV's http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/50978/? :hehe:

Well, that's only useful until you gain access to The Sink, at which point you have a Sci-Fi version of Pocket Plane home :teehee:

Isn't that the main focus of the new mad max game.

There is a motorcycle mod for FO3 that does all of the things you listed, with options to upgrade your bike to 6, or so, cool paint jobs.

Then... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iKxmjOTaEO0

Gotta admit, that sounds like a nice idea. Oh sure, in NV you helped restore some rockets, but you never got to ride on them.

Hopefully it would include things where it gets stolen and stuff like that.

If there is going to be vehicles in Fallout 4 then yes, there should be quests to fix it up just like in Fallout 2. It should also require fuel like it does in Fallout 2.

I couldn't see them doing a real-time driveable car or motorcycle. I could honestly see them having a horse. Gas is rare, but maybe you find a mutated horse you can ride? It might sound weird, but whats more feasible, a car that has had no work or maintenance on it in 200 years (not to mention I doubt any factories are open to make more parts [maybe a vault experiment was to make a car?]). I could see a horse though, especially in nature they are very tough and adaptable animals. If cows can survive, albeit with an extra head, so can horses I think.

Eh, if there's people making vertibirds and androids, there's people making and repairing other machinery. And a car wouldn't have to run on gas anyway. Fallout universe it could run on a fusion plant or big fission batteries, and those would certainly be available - either purchased at significant expense from a few specialist dealers, or low quality ones scavenged at risk of radiation poisoning from old wrecks (which FO3 established do have some very explosive life left in them).

Yes, that would be awesome. I remember in FO2 you assemble the pieces for this Pre-War car and you get to then drive around in it. I would prefer a really long quest that took you all over the map. Then the game gives you a choice. Get a slow moving van, that can hold a lot of loot. Or you get a fast moving motorcycle that holds a decent amount of loot.

Well when you consider World War III was based on the lack of oil in which cars do need (even electric or nuclear ones), then yes. Cars need oil. Without oil, a car will burn up. Its not just about gas. Vertibirds were preserved by the Enclave. What vertibirds people have more than likely came from them. Not saying all Vertibirds came from the Enclave, but the majority did. The East Coast Brotherhood of Steel chapter didn't have them until they got them from the Enclave. Not to mention that metal will rust and lock up and can eventually just fall to pieces.

Not a long quest, but a short quest to get a possible vehicle up and running. I want it to be my pack mule to store my phat l00t that I acquire in my quests and encounters.

Cars in the real world need oil. In the imaginary Fallout world, maybe since the war they've switched to other lubricants, such as silicone oil. And there are organic oils, anyway.

And if the Enclave preserved vertibirds, then they were maintaining and repairing them, as was anybody else using them. Brotherhood of Steel had to maintain and repair their power armour, even if they didn't build it. That means there are people with the means and skills to maintain and repair technical equipment (especially androids, which are recent designs and originate from Boston where FO4 is set).

So, yes, I still think it would be possible to build or repair a working vehicle in FO3 without too much suspension of disbelief :). It would be one of a rare few, and a clunky junkyard example at that, but it would just be cruel to hold that against it - it'd have low enough self esteem, being an imaginary vehicle in a fantasy world :D.

Why would they be fighting a war over oil if they didn't need oil?

There are cars in Fallout (the NCR has one car per 200 people) I'm just saying its not feasible to ask for cars in game.

The roads are torn to crap in game as well. Now if they had a BIG-ASS TRUCK for me to drive that would certainly appease me! In fact, no more car talk I want a BIG-ASS TRUCK with AIG-BSS Tires!

The war started over oil, but by the time they had made cars that ran on nuclear energy the war had boiled over from so many different things that the oil didn't mater.

Motorcycles are easier to add than horses, for cars I would keep it small as in an sand buggy, room for you and companion.

Something like an camping truck mobile base is better to do fast traveling, with an robot upgrade you could call base.

Both the buggy and the base could have sentry guns, the buggy something small, the base like the big robot in FO3 gatling and missile launcher

Or a tank :D! It wouldn't have to have a gun or anything, just nice big tracks and enough size to get over smallish piles of rubble (BIG piles of rubble are for blocking access to locked off areas and to block roads leading off the map).

Or a hovercraft thing would do :)

It would be a decent alternative to just fast traveling back and forth from a base.
In fact, it would be cool way to present fast travel, prior to which you'd be literally stuck hoofing it everywhere.
Otherwise fast travel pretty much would have me parking it near my home and just using my pipboy to get me near my objective before walking over. Like with the horse in skyrim, I more often than not would leave it behind as I'd miss out on harvesting opportunities and the small little nooks and crannies you ignore as you rush towards the little arrow on your compass.
May seem counterintuitive to penalize you for
not using it, but its the only way I'd use it with any certainty.

I still think there should be a bright red Chryslus Rattler, the Fallout version of a Dodge Viper. The Car should require locating parts from across the Map and having a time limit to gather everything necessary to repair the vehicle. Failure to aquire all of the parts in time results in the loss of the vehicle, and a cutscene of a Super Mutant and the Dog riding off into the Sunset.

The Rattler should have vanity plates with NTRPLY :D

I don't know. We did not have a long quest to get the car in F2. That said I would not be against it, it's more fun that just being handed everything. If we get a mount. But considering the size of F4, since I assume it will be at least the size of Skyrim's map, we need some kind of mount. And I ain't gonna ride a Brahmin... I also want a bike, something I think will be more likely.
