i want mah pauldrons

No, no. I want to hear your examples of how Morrowind was SO much more complicated than Oblivion. All I ever here is Oblivion is a "dumbed down" version of Morrowind yet I never see any examples of why. As for the armor system being your example, okay, that's one example and as I've stated it was removed because it was abused into god mode. I'm all for freedom until it turns into anarchy like with several things in Morrowind. I would love Morrowind's extent to the armor system back if the extra layers aren't enchantable.

All Bethesda has to do is put a limit on enchanted items equipped. Then you can have as many damn layers as you want.

*sad sigh*

Those thoughts makes me want to create my own RPG, with everything awesome that an RPG should have. If only I could find a nice university or something in this piece of [censored] country, that could teach me how to become a game designer...

One day maybe, we will see a graphically amazing RPG, with awesome mechanics, great depth and complexity, while still being accessible and very fun and easy to play, with a very distinct and unique lore. And almost infinite replayability.

You could move to America if it's possible for ya, there's a good amount of universities geared for the game industy...

Well I'm all for the return of pauldrons and layers but the layers can't be enchantable or they don't need to return. I don't like the idea of sacrificing balance for vanity.

Don't enchant them, that is the main reason I want clothes under armor, afterall I can't see them(then again I play in 1st so I cant see my character, except in reflections...). I want more equipment slots but I don't think anyone should get there hopes up for MW like equipment slots. But Oblivions amount is still decent, and it already been confirmed its not 2.5 slots like FO which would be bad.

doesn't it seem like people get upset for the stupidest things? like missing pauldrens that is so insignificant to the game, I mean yeh it adds more customization a little bit and that is is. Plus modders can make whatever they want. and the reasons that there were less armor slots is because there was a drastic change in the system for clothes and armor, instead of having both an armor and a clipped area Oblivion just had armor

I made a whole post about how I don't care about alot of things because mods will do it, this is not one of those things. Based on OB and FO,etc adding new armor slots is not something that happens. After over a year on the market there was finally a good OB mod that allowed Robes over armor(very little clipping) and clothes under armor. But no new slots. Same with Fallout 3. This is one of those things that needs to be in the vanillia game, it very hard to implement with mods.

@Sleign how does it hurt to have more slots, it allows more customization, just don't enchant the stuff if you think its too powerful, having more stuff to get and use is great.

I'm not saying Morrowind was "SO much more complicated than Oblivion." I was commenting on this:

Nothing about Oblivion was more simple than Morrowind, period...

...cause that just ain't true.

well I wasn't talking about armor slots I am saying you can modify the armor that is already in the game way more than you could if you just used it in the game

Really? People complain when people tell them do just not use fast travel yet your going to say to just not enchant them.... You can't just put in a feature that breaks the game. If the only reason you want clothes under your armor is to enchant them to become overpowered, then it doesn't need to be put back in because that is the reason they were removed in the first place. You can't have game breaking exploits like overenchanting your gear, or levitation or spears/backpedaling. That is one of the reasons I didn't like Morrowind as much as Oblivion. Morrowind had a way better main quest line but wasn't quite to the greatness of the side quests of Oblivion. But one of the main reasons I like Oblivion more than Morrowind is because Morrowind was too easy in comparison. Morrowind, I just blew through the game and I didn't find it as fun as Oblivion because I never really ran into anything that was dangerous because over-enchanting and other factors. The only thing that ever gave me any kind of challenge was the Udyrfrykte. Some people may find being a god in game might be fun but I don't find it fun in TES and I guarantee the devs don't like it either. Purposely putting in things into the mainstream game that makes you invincible is just not good game development and BGS will not do it.

I want to see proof of that, cuz I'm not seeing it.

@Kefka, read my previous posts in this thread and other threads. I have nothing wrong with the return of the old armor system, in fact I hope it does return, just not where you can enchant anything more than your main armor, not any other layers. That breaks the game.

There was no gps in Morrowind, satisfied.

Pauldrons were removed because of clipping. Same thing with robes over armor, clipping.

With Fast Travel the ignore thing does not work because there are no other options, but mods can fix it. On the other hand people like the extra slots(and mods don't fix this), I do not agree that it was consider a game breaker for many, nor do I think if Oblivion had as many slots would people be saying 'oh please cut back on the slots there are too many it unbalances the game.' Having more equipment is great, I don't see many fans being angered by having more stuff to equip, Beth could have toned down enchanting if they really was the cause of the removal, but I think the extra work needed to create so much more equipment is probably the reason they remove the slots.

Ok, then we more or less agree, I have no issue with balancing enchanting to do it(it would be easy to mod if the balancing was not to my taste). Cool Ham.

He means that SOME PEOPLE can do moddeling and texturing with 3rd party programs to make anything they want, armor wise, then import it into the game with the TES editor and use it on their chars.

That's your idea of fun, dog.
The point of the game for me is becoming godly powerful. It's about progression. I guarantee the devs like that part of it.
Enchanting all items is fine, it just needs to be harder to do. Not too familiar with morrowind enchanting (i was warrior) but if it took significant time to level up powerful enchants then it should be fine.
Do the work and get godlike.

How was having spears in the game ruining it's balance? Also, backpedaling was just as rampant in Oblivion. Personally, I found Godhood far too easy to achieve in both games. Also, I found Morrowind more difficult than Oblivion in the beginning because of all the level scaling in Oblivion. Both games have their drawbacks, and both games have their strengths.

its actually pretty easy to do small modifications like remove a pauldren or make the texture a little darker, its just bothering to do it. I mean I can remove a paulren with 2 clicks, then there is just exporting, but not all people will do this, I am just glad that bethesda gave us the CS it adds a whole new level of customization to the game

It's funny the number of slots wasn't a real problem in morrowind, because people couldn't figure out how to enchant.
I question wether some of the devs really disapprove of enchanting exploits. They put three enchanted items that gave you 100% reflect damage when worn together in oblivion. There was no enchanting involved. Makes me wonder.

And thank god I'm working in the VGI and not you <_< You have to balance a game, you can't just let it go insane. The problem with letting someone be god at anytime is that it trivializes everything else in the game and, at least in my experience, being godly powerful gets old quickly.

@Rivendell Spears were a little on the op side. They removed them too because they just didn't have the time to balance it at the time. You could back pedal with it while poking people from a safe distance, which granted Oblivion had but in Oblivion it was just magic and ranged that abused that instead. They removed spears to try to get rid of the broken melee/backpedaling but it also went with levitation when you just hovered out of reach of people while you poked people to death. Spears are fine to return now too now that backpedaling has been fixed, but in Morrowind it was broken. They both have their strengths and weaknesses which I have pointed out many times in the past but whenever people just glean on the flaws of Oblivion and think that Morrowind had none, I point out Morrowind's flaws to show people that Morrowind wasn't so perfect.

Two clicks? After how many clicks to research the best modeling program to do it with, to find and download said program, install, learn how to use (maybe a thousand clicks there? if you need the help function), then you gotta figure CS out how many clicks is that? Hell maybe i should try and make a friend with a moddler and wait..that's alot of typing/acting... will you be my friend?....sheesh.... wait a minute this armor my friend just spent two clicks editing can only be used on the PC!?! But i got xbox !!!!!!!

I'm jokin with ya man, but hopefully you can see my point.

yeh I don't think it was because of the enchanting exploits, they even made the sigil stone more powerful than any other soul gem you could get
I think it was because they were just redesigning the system and it was hard to implement them

Well yeah if your instantly a god. Not if you spend hours upon hours in order to reach your goal (become godlike).
Becoming godlike in a game as soon as you get it with no effort required is ridiculous. Maybe you were thinking of cheat codes ?

And thank god I'm working in the VGI and not you

yeh, but there is only like 4 programs that can even do 3d modeling, and the only one that is free is blender, so you could find that easily, also there is a help bar in blender, and I can do it in 2 clicks, well its more like 1 click and 2 buttons, right-click:select one pauldren vertice, ctrl+l selected the linked, delete, pauldren gone export, and there is a bunch of stuff to help you, I just think the CS is overlooked when people say that you arn't given much freedom in the game, and I am not meaning to make fun of console players. And I could use a friend  kinda ironic though we are wasting clicks arguing about the lack of customization in armor when we could be using those clicks to make armor
