I tried out the Telescope mod on Nexus, but it's very clunky and just no fun to use.
Just before I tried it out I had an idea for a simple fixed zoom scope item and I've thought about how the script should work but I need help to bring it together. This seems like it would be easy script for a pro but for me I'm not sure where to start.
Basically when the scope item (miscellelaneous item) is present in your inventory, and when you are in first person view, when you mouse-wheel-up your FOV is divided by 4, and a graphic overlay is applied to the screen. When you mouse-wheel down you return to the original FOV and the graphic overlay is removed. This should be prevented when a weapon is drawn and when you are in 3rd person view. When it is active it should prevent weapons from drawing and from going into 3rd person view. The graphic overlay should scale proportionately for different resolutions.
That's all there is to it pretty simple and blends in nicely with the controls. Insanity's Junkyard has a beautiful looking Dwemer Spy Glass that would be perfect to use. I've thought about the recipie for the item and have been experimenting with setting up the file.
Other advanced features could be an MCM menu that lets you choose the zoom key and variable zoom (divides FOV by 2 each increment) If you can help me make it you can take all the credit if you like I just want a nice easy scope item to add to my game.
