I want to own a Warhammer.

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 6:16 am

I got this friend who collect various weapons, usually eastern daggers and swords. I would like to do it my own way but I have a taste for large hammers. Where could I purchase epically large warhammers or mauls?

Hmm, interesting question, a warhammer would be a lot easier to get than daggers as it is less likely to be considered contraband, not sure though, I spent about a year to carve my sledgehammer to make it look like a warhammer

You could settle for http://www.nerfgunsntoys.com/img/nerf-n-force-battlemaster-mace-axe_3543_500.jpg

I'm pretty sure you can get http://www.mania.com/content_pics/000005/67/57/fb15701433471ccd_large.jpg. What can't you get there lol

Spoiler
That's right, I just gave Walmart a free plug.

Keeping up with the Jones... Medieval style.

Epically large? Good luck. War hammers were not all that impressive looking in regards to size (but they were extremely effective).

True. If you want anything bigger than http://www.trueswords.com/images/prod/c/TS-MEDHAMINF_540.jpg then an ordinary sledgehammer would be an option. Unless you can find someone who makes fantasy weapons, I guess.

Head on down to your local renissance fair and see what is available from the smiths who make period weaponry.

Warhammers seen in video games do not exist as real-world weapons.

So unless you want http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_hammer, then you don't want a warhammer.

You could find a blacksmith who'd be willing to make one on commission. Would probably be pretty expensive if you want anything bigger than a sledge-hammer. The real deals are pretty dinky in comparison to that Daedric Warhammer you looted while taking the Sigil stone from it's perch in the Sigillium Sanguis.

If you're going for a massive Warhammer like, something out of a RPG fantasy game, good luck.
Warhammers were in fact rather small in real life, when used in the medieval period. They weren't ginormous, they were practical, and deadly.
Remember the head of the Amber Warhammer from SI? I'd say that's actually quite large and not very realistic in terms of actual real Warhammers, and I think that was the smallest one in Oblivion.

It;d kinda be suicide in an actua batte to use a weapon you struggle to lift

Why didn't the description show before I posted this.

I second the notion of your local renaissance fair. The one near me has all sorts of weapons and cool stuff to buy.
