I want to play after the final mission

Post » Sun Jul 17, 2011 8:58 am

I'm just saying that your asking them to give you another game after the ending of this one. Personally I think that things like the DLCs shouldn't be DLC, I want all that implemented before the game even ships. I'm willing to pay more and wait longer for a game to release for that to happen. But, it's not going to happen. I don't sit and cry about it.

They would have had to create an entire new game world to play in for the game to continue, if they wanted to of course they could. But could they have produced a comprehensive, interesting, game world for every possible outcome? Probably not.

i'm not a crazy devoted fan, I'm just looking at it the way I see the situation. Don't play the game until all the DLCs are out, then run through everything before you engage in the final battle. There, no more immersion being broken. Can't wait that long? Again, they can't program patients.

So attempting to argue a point that has already been stated multiple times over regarding Fallout 3 is now defined as "crying"? How wonderful. So If I dont agree with something it means I must be equivalent to a slobbering 2 year old lashing about in a tantrum over a half eaten candy bar? Im literally bashing my head off the keyboard as tears threaten to flood the very room I sit in? How dare I speak out against something I (and many others) dont agree with?!

I am all for playing after the main mission, however the developers on several occasions have already stated that there is not going to be an open ending. These threads are like watching people scream at a brick wall to get out of the way. The wall isn't going to move. :banghead:

And how much do you want to bet that Skyrim does the same thing? As much as people complain the devs will never listen. Its like a joke. They set up these forums for their customers to voice their oppinions... and yet take none of them into consideration. Now tell me, in what other industry can you so blatantly ignore your customers and still have a functional business? Its like they do the exact opposite of what people ask for. You didnt like this in Fallout 3? Well I guess that means you'll like it even more in New Vegas!

Might just be that the prospect of a few people whining incessantly really doesn't keep them up at night.

I dont like the game? Where did I ever state that I dont like the game? I rant about bugs that still remain unfixed. Infact, the bug that Ive ranted the most about isnt even really a bug. Half of the quest was simply... left out of the game. Thats some awesome game design right there! But no, Ive never onced stated that I dont like the game. Dissapointed? Yes. Highly dissapointed. Still, Id rather be dissapointed than an ass kisser that runs around these forums praising developers hoping for a pat on the head.

I dont know, if we're talking about when Bethesda was all but forced to restructure the entire ending of their game simply because of the number of complaints recieved on a daily basis... then yes, I guess you could call that a "FEW" people whining. But then again this post was only made to take a cheap shot at me, the OP, because you had nothing to counter argue me with regarding the TOPIC of the thread.

'Eh? My last post was pretty on topic. You wish you could keep playing after the main quest, 'kay. If wishes were horses beggars would ride. I get it though, this is just a medium for you to complain without any opposition. Keep on doing your thing.

Dude, your the only one angry here. I'm just trying to have a discussion about why you feel this way about the ending. I'm sorry if you took what I said about crying literally. I don't think your crying like a slobbering two year old. But I do think you are raising a moot point. If you didn't like the game the way it is, don't buy it. I'm willing to put up with a few things in the game I don't like because maybe everything else is worth it. I would like to know why can't you just play the game as I described, wait for all the DLCs to come out, start fresh, and enjoy all the content that is currently offered.

Fallout New Vegas seemed rushed. There were a lot of areas that were planned, but left out. Incomplete quests sure I believe there are some. Obsidian and Bethesda monitor these forums quite often, and even interact. They take a lot from these forums and others. When I first bought this game, I noticed that my game disc had a severe manufacturer error in center; the plastic crumbled, yet it still played. I had my first doubts. After I installed it, the game was unplayable until I modified the ini file, and I posted the problem. They fixed the problem on the first patch. They get most of their info of the problems with the game from tech support calls and these forums. People complained that energy weapons were too weak, well they fixed that in a patch. They listen to the fans, but they will not do what you request especially in the negative way it is being discussed. As for Skyrim, well we just have to wait and see. I won't be playing it right a way, because I need to upgrade my laptop first. :obliviongate:

Im sure Skyrim will continue on after the ending but SKyrim will most likely have one ending.

FO3 was able to continue after because there was 2 endings and both were near simulery done in Broken Steel (the purfier works just the bad ending the water kills you) and any choices made in FO3s main plot like allowing Eden and Autum to live are scrapped with one line of dialogue.

New Vegas has loads of endings based on who takes over for companions, factions and of course Vegas its self. I would see an ending then continue on namely as I doubt anything obsidian will do will give justice to what the main factions would do when they take over vegas.

Be no meaning to continue aswell in that with one faction taken over what would be the point.

And if they only make one ending to be a continuation like say only play after the NCR ending it would then devalue the other endings in the game.

Did Bethesda not learn its lesson from Fallout 3?

Stop right there. Your opinion is now invalidated and you are hear by confined to the corner of shame and disdain, forever.

I love how you use words like 'nobody' and other terms that refer to everyone despite equally widespread support for the game just ending. I for one see no reason why the ending slides weren't perfectly sufficient.

Keep on fighting the power :mohawk:

Its the fact that we should have been able to continue the story.

If you play the game through, the companion stories, the side quests, get all the unique weapons, discover every map marker, all achievements, etc I reckon you'd be hard pressed to finish it in under 100hrs.

ONE HUNDRED HOURS

I bought Crysis 2 on release, cost as much if not a little more than FNV, and I blew through that on hard in about 12hrs, including 2-3hrs of replaying a few tricky parts. And guess what? When it ended, I COULDN'T CONTINUE THE [censored] STORY! Yet, you don't hear people complaining about that, although it really only contained half a dozen characters of any consequence, sparse dialog and a handful of weapons. And I still got stuck in the geometry at a couple of points!

Now consider FNV if it continued past the end. There'd have to be hours more dialog recorded, based on how you finish it. For example, Caesar alone would need to have his dialog tree progressed and have at the minimum options for if you ultimately sided with or against the Legion. Given the extent of dialog in the game though, he'd likely have different responses for each ending (Legion, NCR, House, Indy). Also you'd get odd things like Graham greeting you with "you weren't the courier I was expecting", even though you're now God of Nevada.

But all that aside, even if there was only one more line of dialog written and no changes to troop distributions, landscape, etc I honestly have no idea how you can possibly expect more from this game, given what it already contains compared to the rest of the market.

Here's the thing. There's nothing to do after the final quest.

It's a shame the Gamebryo engine can't really handle an online free-roam like Red Dead Redemption, because that would be marginally more entertaining than wandering the wasteland, alone, with nothing to do.

They can add new quests as in Broken Steel.

Or, you know. Something fun and original. Strange thinking I know. Glad that Obsidian isn't taking the route of Bethesda and appealing to the ones that whine the loudest as opposed to the content majority.

If they do Broken steel kind of thing to new vegas it would just break the game. If you think that new vegas is too short then create new character or something. btw there is reason why there is not free roam option after beating the game, do you know what the reason is, it is The end.

We put a lot of effort into the ending slides -- we know those slides are really popular with people so we want to make sure there's a huge amount of variety and reactivity with that stuff. We weren't really focused on new features so much as to add a really rich sense of reactivity to the players and the choices they make.

We want to make it a definitive ending. Initially, we talked about trying to support post-game play, but because the changes that can happen at the end of the game are pretty major, this is what it basically came down to: either have the changes feel really major in the end slides and then have them not be very major after the end of the game, or make them really minor and not that impactful. And we feel it's better to say, 'you know what, we're just going to end the game, and the changes you made can be minor or really really big, but because we can't script all the changes to the Wasteland to let you keep playing, we're just going to stop it there. But we do let the player know when that's about to happen-- a sort of, "the end of the game is coming", so we're saving your game right now, so if you want to keep your game going, you can, otherwise, it's about to be over.

Whether you decide to try to finish every quest in the game before the end, or simply end the game and go look for additional quest in new playthroughs, you're probably going to be busy. Sawyer noted, "We have a huge number of quests in this game. We've often said this is the same physical size as Fallout 3, which is true, but the amount of quest content is crazy.

Here you go, that's them saying explicitly that it is too much damn work (among other things). If that is not enough of an explanation for you, then sorry. I honestly don't think the backlash towards this game's ending is enough warrant an expansion to extend it, because the backlash has only been some people on the internet asking why there is an ending.

Also, that mod isn't all that impressive at it's current stage and what the author is promising to do later will be just that, MUCH later and they wouldn't possibly be able to do it alone. Mods like that are often abandoned.

As a side note, your argument that DLC should be included in the base game makes no sense. They are for all intents and purposes games within a game and completely out of scope considering the base game, and it's not like they were all complete before the game released anyway. So why exactly do you think they should be in vanilla New Vegas?

I would like to bet 1000000 caps we can continue playing after Skyrim's completion. Bethesda noticed the backlash they got for FO3 closed ending. Google it!

@Iwasdrunkbro: You keep saying you want to continue the story by playing after the end, but after the ending the story is over.

Most of the quests are faction related, the events of the main story can eliminate most of the factions or turn them against you. That blocks off those quests, so you can't do them. Apart from a handful of unconnected quests that'll only last so long, what else is there to do? The story ended at Hoover Dam.
