Want to record your games?

Do you like the idea of recording your games, posting them on youtube? Catching cheaters so you can report them? Or maybe you just like reviewing kill-cams so you can learn from your mistakes?

Like most of us who pour our hard-earned cash into our gaming PC's, you probably don't have a whole lot of dough to throw around. I know I don't.

Many of the community's "elder" members are already recording their games an uploading them. Maybe they paid for their software, or maybe they know how to get some free stuff (legally, of course). But what do you do?

It gets asked all the time on game forums: "Where do I get screen capture software?"

Believe it or not, there's lots of great software out there that's available for free. Most of them use DirectX or OpenGL hooks to capture, so they'll be limited on the number of FPS they can record and usually limited to recording only games. Some of them offer additional options, even tweaking your GPU's clock. But, the bottom line is the same: They're free. And legal.

Here are some links:

MSI Afterburner:

I've heard good things about Bandicam, but have never tried it. The E.M. Game capture software is another I've never tried, but it's free. Personally, I use MSI Afterburner. It's free, light weight and customizable. You can even detach the status monitor, put it on another screen entirely and monitor your video card's performance in real-time as you play without having all that crazy stuff show up on your screen. You can visit my youtube channel to see how well the software works. It even records full HD without a hiccup.

If community veterans know of more that's available for free and would like to share below, I'll happily update the original post.

Enjoy!
