I want to see my legs.

In teh trailer he ran to the edge of the clif and looked down, you saw his hands come out like "whoa" but as he looked down you could not see his legs.

Does that mean we still cant see our sleves in the game?

The camera wasn't close enough to the ground to see your legs anyway.

They might have done that purposely because they might be working on it.

I agree. This is something I really hope Bethesda puts in the stock game. Along the same lines, you should be able to see your shadow and your reflection while in 1st person too. How immersive would that be... not only seeing your legs, but seeing your shadow cast out long in front of you as you approach your foe, or seeing your face staring back at you when you peer into a pool.

Then lose some weight...j/k!

Yeah, it would be nice if we could see our own legs as we look down with your Character.

Full body awareness would be awesome to put in. I know that scene was scripted where Dovahkiin almost fell off the cliff, but it seems Beth might have something up their sleeve.

Edit: Nevermind I forgot about the scene actually being gameplay, forgive me. It should be in already then.

Considering in the average first person game you are focusing on what is in front of you, not under you, I really don't understand the persistent obsession with seeing your own feet. Can someone explain this to me?

I'd like to see this in Skyrim as well. It's one of those things that might seem small to some, but in truth really goes a long way to making a first person gaming experience seem more believable, and honestly, I really don't see why more games don't do this. I mean, if done well, it really doesn't get in you're way much so it doesn't really detract from the game, but it can certainly benefit it.

The trailer though doesn't really tell us whether it will be in the game or not, as the player never looked down far enough to really show us whether the body is visible in first person. The bit with the hands stretching out when the player almost fell off the cliff was nice, but lots of games which don't feature first person body awareness have shown the players' hands even when not holding a weapon.

Considering in the average first person game you are focusing on what is in front of you, not under you, I really don't understand the persistent obsession with seeing your own feet. Can someone explain this to me?

While usually you're eyes will be focused on what's in front of you, you will at times have to look down, and it looks kind of awkward when every time you look down you're reminded of the fact that you're not playing as a person but rather a floating camera with a pair of arms attached, that's as good a reason as any to add it if you ask me.

1) Mods don't work for consoles.

2) Mods haven't done it well for Oblivion. All mods trying to make this "full-viewable body from 1st-person" has had severe bugs or failed.

This is definitely something Bethesda should do until 11/11/11.
It really makes 1st person more enjoyable and a better experience. 1st person is meant to feel real. Meant to feel as if you're there, seeing it through your eyes.
That's why having this is so important. It builds up the 1st person experience to a whole 'nother level.

A lot of 1st person games have this. I don't see why Bethesda would wanna stick to the "floating camera holding a sword"-concept, which is over 10-12 years old now?

I think Left 4 Dead 1 managed to perform "seeing-your-legs" pretty well, in my opinion. Too bad they removed it in L4D2.

I would like to see my shadow, and my reflection in pools/glass etc. As for seeing my legs....not really fussed, although I can see why it would be something people would like to see implemented.

That defeats the purpose of it entirely. The idea of seeing you're legs in first person is to make it feel more real. Like you're actually seeing things from he eyes of the character you're playing, and not like you're a floating camera with arms. If you go into third person, it defeats that because then you're not seeing through your characters eyes. You're seeing you're character from the perspective of an outside observer, as the name would imply, thus, it doesn't really work for this purpose. One of the benefits of a first person perspective is that it feels more real, since you see the game from the perspective of your character, and thus experience it as though you're actually involved in the events happening on screen rather than just observing them. And while I won't say that it's essential to see you're body and legs in first person to get this effect, I think having it could certainly enhance it.

It seems like you'd be far more concerned with seeing what is in front of you so you don't run into a pole or tree or something. :P

For the same reason that people want better attack animations, or run animations, or better graphics generally. When the game feels more realistic, it's more fun to play. By your logic they wouldn't even animate the attacks, you would just get a message that tells you how much damage you did. After all, when fighting, you focus on doing damage not on watching flashy fight techniques.

I honestly dont see why you would ever even need to look at your legs, your going to be looking at the game not down in the dirt

This.
I always felt kinda stupid for not being able to see my reflection, shadow or other stuff like that in the previous games.

I'm still hoping for full body awareness. It's modern, it's aesthetically pleasing, it's immersive, it leads to more fluidity and thorough atmosphere in combat... Modern games without it just feel very awkward to me.
