i want to take armour of of dead creatures

Post » Sat Sep 25, 2010 2:57 am

in oblivion i hated how i couldn't take armour or cloths off of dead creatures

i couldn't take the armour off the skeleton in the brotherhood sanctuary
i couldn't wear the xilivilai stuff
i couldn't wear the random loincloths given to creatures by bethesda because they weren't comfortable with genitals in a game
i couldn't wear goblin stuff
i couldn't wear lich stuff

(i also couldent steal reynolds armour or the emperor's robe, at least the dremora armour had a bit of lore behind it!)

in morrowind i couldn't...

steal the awesome loincloths from ash ghouls and slaves
steal the cool robes from the ash (whatever the guy in the robes was called)
steal ash vampire stuff
steal dagoth ur's mask

i cant remember too much, but i am sure there is more.

in fallout (3/nv) i couldent steal the remains of combat armour on feral roamers, thats all i can remember. i also couldent steal super mutant armour to give to a super mutant companion.

in skyrim i want to steal the clothing and armour of EVERYTHING undead, i want to do the same for daedra and creatures.

I'm pretty sure dreamora armor is like welded to their flesh or something like that so it makes sense you can't steal that.

This isn't World of Warcraft, and I actually LIKE not finding enchanted Deadric armor pieces or weapons on wolves.

Unless the dremora are godlike warriors this time, I don't think you should be able to loot their armor.

It's so irritating when you kill someone specifically for one things they're wearing, and you can't take it from them. Examples include the Emperor's robe, Imperial Palace guard uniforms, etc... I mean, the animations and textures and models already exist, so why can't we take them and use them for ourselves?

Thats all I here with a lot of threads here...

D4rk 0ne: Yes, because prancing around town in the dead emperor's robes or royal guard armor is all fine and dandy and no one would care.

Yeah that would be nice, in Oblivion I would always kill a daedra and be like MINE MINE MINE MINE MINE and then end up getting nothing

I say meet us in the middle: Every item that previously couldn't be looted now can...

...with consequences that drive home why they didn't let us loot them before.

For instance: Wearing the Emperor's robe immediately makes you a criminal, it's property of the Empire like crown jewels and the like. Guard/Legion armor, same. Dremora armor is tailored to Dremora...right down to having effects that benefit Dremora, but are detrimental (if not fatal) to non-Daedra.

Logic = None. But you tried so A for effort.

I would like to take some stuff from creatures. I understood things like Daedric Armor from enemies in Oblivion Gates because you could walk out of Kvatch at level 1 with 6+ sets of full Daedric. But when a goblin skirmisher is wearing an Iron Chestpiece I wants it. I suppose they could have made the armor Dremoran Armor and gave it good defense at the cost of it being heavy like their weapons.

I still wouldn't take a goblin loincloth though, I'm not touching there.

Exactly. We know they've experimented with this concept before too. With the scripts on Ordinator's sacred Indoril Helm and Cuirass.

We always want that which we cannot have. Some things are better left unobtainable.

Emporer's robes I can understand, the palace armor could have been like the ordinator armor in morrowind. If you wear it and speak to an ordinator, they attack you/arrest you.

Dremora armor is tailored to Dremora...right down to having effects that benefit Dremora, but are detrimental (if not fatal) to non-Daedra.

Eh, I liked how in Morrowind if you killed a dremora/golden saint, they'd vanish back to Oblivion with their armor. I always assumed it was daedric armor, but it wouldn't be very wise for them to send the finest crafted armor into the Aedric world, just to have the dremora die and lose the armor. Seems like the kind of thing that would be bound to their soul/spirit.

Would be cool if you could loot it, but the second you put it on, it turns to dust and just crumbles off back to Oblivion :D

On the contrary, I don't think we should be allowed to steal body armour from dead bodies, too much hassle to unsnap/unlock the contraction. Unless it's an skeleton undead, then we can simply shake the bones loose and out from the armour.

Just a friendly heads-up: Despite rumors to the contrary, caps lock is not "Cruise Control for Cool?."

And this as well, with embellishment: Skeletons' and Liches' armor can only be removed by shaking their dusty, crumbly skeletal remains out- then you find you can't wear it anyway, because all the fasteners that haven't been opened in possibly hundreds of years (with no maintenance) are frozen solid. Buckles rusted/corroded until they're fused together. Leather on undead- rotted so thoroughly that if you manage to get it on, it falls off you in pieces the first time you move and your muscles flex under it.

(See, the look of the armor on most undead strongly suggests to me that they're not into maintaining it, nor into taking it off and putting it on routinely.)

That's irrelevant. If wearing the Emperor's clothes causes citizens/guards to attack me at will, so be it. It shouldn't stop me from being able to do it... I'm not here to discuss potential consequences associated with wearing restricted/forbidden items, I'm just here to say that it should be possible to do so. Once that is established, I'd be happy to discuss the ramifications of the act.

One thing I liked about Morrowind was that if you went around wearing Ordinater armor, then Ordinaters would attack you. But it does make sense that you wouldn't be able to wear goblin armor. Humans/Mer/Beasts being larger than goblins by quite a bit, you shouldn't be able to wear it.
