i want to talk about poison

Post » Thu May 19, 2011 3:30 am

was it just me or was poison extremely hard to come by and when you obtained it it really wasn't worth the trouble in the first place.

maybe poison is still hard to come by, expensive/ difficult to create but, it's much more potent and almost always an end game weapon you can use for your doubly important missions

I think poison should last longer than just one strike. It was kind of bad in Oblivion too. I'd rarely find a need for a "damage fatigue" poison or something similar.

You give me something to believe in.

On topic, I really liked what they did with poison in Assassin's Creed. It made things interesting.

Well, it's kind of like spellmaking, only you need to gather ingredients every time. After a while, I figured out how to make the most powerful poison. It's hitting two birds with one stone, because once you get your ingredients down you won't have to reassign poisons and potions to hotkeys because you'll have duplicates of a single potion/poison with the effects you want for any situation.

I'm hoping for more plants that specializes on useful negative effects.

NEW IDEA: poison should affect NPCs and combative enemies differently. heres what i mean... jack the farmer is an ordinary jack. the black hand wants me to kill him. i put a thumb tack on his door knob coated with poison... he gets poisoned. minutes later he's dead. immediately.

bob the bandit lives in skyrim solely to make your life miserable. you poke him with something poisonous and he immediately starts taking continous damage.

thiefs aren't alchemists so i think there should be an easier way to obtain potent poisons. assuming alchemy isn't as broken as it was in OB

Thieves are alchemists now though. They put it in the stealth skill list. I guess becasue Mages had little use for poisons, but thieves benefit from both potions and poisons. Not sure if I agree with this, but its what they did.

too bad alchemy doesn't work for both theives and mages.... just like marksman would work for warriors and thieves... kinda stubborn aren't they?

Yeah it really cheapened it to have it last 1 hit. Definitely hope they change that.

exactly and you should be able to poison the tips of arrows... which consequently only last one hit. forcing you to choose between stealth/ safety or max damage

minutes later he's dead.

immediately.

Pick one.

It doesn't make sense that he'll become poisoned and than die instantly after a delay. He might have a heart attack or something... but.

I think he meant that he instantly died a few minutes later?

remember the poison apples? but yea it was lame having to put it in a cabinet and hoping the right person eats it... better to use a vile of poison as a turkey baster(it would only kill low level characters, high levels need to be killed the honorabel way)

Morrowind's Alchemy system wasn't even worth it. I just hauled around half a ton of herbs and couldn't get a single useful potion out of it.

On the topic of poisoned arrows they better let us poison more than one arrow per per poison.

I beg to differ. Alchemy in Morrowind gives the player the possibility to break the game. It had to be intentional, but possible nevertheless. I thought alchemy in Morrowind was better than in Oblivion. Minus the new poison effects.

ok..

methinks weapons should have different poison values. potions should have different sizes.

with each poison you can distribute one potion onto many items (for a divided effect) or fill the poison value with a potion (giving the full effect)

poisons should be a lot more rare and expensive.
