As excited as I am about there actually being kids in the game, no, I think it's a bad idea for Bethesda to include the option of having kids. Maybe if a mod did it the right way (sort of an adoption type thing), but I'm not sure I have confidence in Bethesda doing it right.

No thanks, I imagine it would mean giving up my life as an adventurer or whatever, to take care of a kid. Not exactly my idea of a fun time.

Not really, I know and respect many user that have played the same character for years.
This feature as a vanilla package would make them happy.
However it seems a bit much even for me to have this in.

However the question you ask is fair, many would like it, those are the most likely to be buying DLC's, expansions.
Both playing and contributing to these forums in helpful ways for many years until the next TeS game.
So I see no problem if it gets used, whether I like it or not.

That would require massive lapses in time. Also fable is bad :P

1) Fable is good.
2) You can't have children in Fable unless your wife already had a child when you married her.
3) I still don't think you should be able to have children, just sick of this Fable hating Bandwagon.

If Skyrim does include the option to have kids I don't see how it automatically becomes just like fable.

And yes, I think it would be something nice to add to the game. Besides, if you guys don't want kids don't do the dirty. :hubbahubba:

Well, it's another option. I wouldn't use it (or at least this is what I think now) but it's nice to have the option.

No thanks. I dont want to have chidren in the game, i even dont want they be there.
One of the reasons i like Gothic series so much, is a absence of children.

I only have one question. Why?

Seriously tell me, do you honestly believe they can create child npc's that are developed and realistic enough to the point where you actually love them? No, they can't. Nobody has managed this yet, BioWare has made the best progress in making me care about virtual characters so far, but as great as their skill in character development is, it's not nearly enough to successfully emulate a real human being, so I ask again, why?

You won't care about them, you won't love them. Raising and watching over them will consume all your time, unless you keep adventuring and leave the kid with his/her mom, in which case, why even have the kid in the first place if you never see it?

Once we are able to emulate real people to the point that this idea works, I still wouldn't want to see it. Want a kid? Go make one, it's not that complicated. Though i guess a virtual kid has benefits, such as you sleeping more than 3 minutes a week.

Raising and watching over them will consume all your time, unless you keep adventuring and leave the kid with his/her mom,

... which (as a couple of posters mentioned above and were totally ignored) wouldn't even be possible if the player's character is the kid's mom. A feature like this makes absolutely no sense in a game where players' characters can be women.

Romance, yes. Kids running round in safe areas in the game, yes. The player character fathering/bearing and raising kids? I don't think so.

[edit]
To clarify, this makes no sense in a free-form violent action/adventure game where players' characters can be women. In a linear, story driven game which can have jumps in time written into the story it might make sense, but not in a game like Skyrim.

No, i play this game to fight evil and swat dragons on the ass with a mace, not to pretend to have children. Geez, also i don't think that the game will have newborns in it if i had to guess.
