So, do we want the Morrowind Dunmer voice back?

Post » Mon Dec 20, 2010 10:53 pm

I was watching an Oblivion video and I noticed that the Dunmer voice from Morrowind was once used for the game. I'm not sure what the reason for removing it was, maybe the actor ripped up his throat.

Anyway, here's the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjbx6-KQoRg&feature=related at 0:48

Would you guys get annoyed with that, or do you think it's awesome?

This. Maybe have the Dunmer closer to the southern border have more of an Imperial accent to them (Oblivion), and then have the Dunmer closer to the eastern border have a more traditional accent to them (Morrowind).

If they have multiple voices for the same gender of the same race, I will be more than impressed.

It was Haskill in the Shivering Isles expansion. I haven't heard much but what I have heard didn't seem bad at all. I actually thought it was really good.

Brendan Small should do the voice for dark elves.

Somebody a while back suggested a scripted tavern sequence for TES V in which you find a group of eastern, raspy-voiced Dunmer picking on one of the Oblivion ones for how high his voice is.

The unfulfilling reason behind the voice was that the dark elves of Cyrodil didn't have the voice because they weren't breathing int he ash from Red Mountain all the time. Of course, all the other characters in MW spoke normally... Maybe the Nords will all have the gravel voice in Skyrim because they all have colds.

Amazing, having just watched that video 1) I don't remember a single conversation in that game that matched the one in their video that was supposed to be random.
2) People are still commenting on it on youtube.
3) I guess that's all I'm doing here, so its not so amazing...

Assuming everything is voiced, I just want more voice actors in general, with better lines. And if that means having different accents and dialects, I'm all for it.

And I hope dragons sound like dragons, not people trying to sound like dragons.

Each race should have at least 15 different voice actors doing 5 different voices each.

HELL YES. That is the way Dark elves were meant to sound! I don't know what they were thinking when they changed it. tsk tsk.

Not just the Morrowind Dunmer voices, but the Bosmer ones too. I want my perky voiced Galbedir back

The voice actor they used in Oblivion can be used for the Altmer in my opinion

Aww, you're in love.

To be honest, the voice only really suited the Altmer anyway.

I thought the voice used for the elves in Oblivion would be great for Wood Elves, and bring back the High Elf voice from Morrowind.

Actually, the AI was supposed to be like that. They had to pull the plug though after some problems arose and not enough time to fix 'em.

If only that was true... We'd have robots doing all the work for us by now.

I loved that Dunmer voice!

But sadly, some dark elves don't look like the voice fits them. Can you imagine http://images.uesp.net//a/a2/OB-npc-Aldos_Othran.jpg guy with that voice? :hubbahubba:

Maybe it's because I've never played Morrowind, but I feel as though hearing a Dunmer with that voice is just too weird for me. I feel like it'd be better suited to an Argonian, to be honest.
