Yep.. we've built us a weird society. Male heroes can be ugly, scarred and big nosed... Only requirement seems to be muscles, specifically abdominal muscles. Female heroes can either be soft and approachable or sixy and damaged, They require "inner strength.".....( and abdominal muscles.) If they have a scar, it's a sixy scar that somehow accentuates a facial feature. Every now and then you might get a chubby male hero, Very rarely do we ever see the chubby female hero. They seem to mainly require "comedic timing."
Since this is the basic perception we grow up with, even women tend to design sixy female characters.. Famous female fantasy artists perpetuate the sixy female warrior, topless brandishing a bloody sword. It's a hard image to escape.. I mean, it's what you'd want to be.. Beautiful, sixy, deadly. Not many people aspire to be dumpy, pleasant and panicky.. even though that's what most of us are. Soo, until someone comes along that can create an amazing female hero that is atypical to our understanding of that hero.. and greatly succeeds at it. We're kind of stuck with our midriff exposed, form fitting metal armor.
At least Fallout's power armor has never been form fitting. Power armor is perhaps one of the first non gender specific armors in a game.
