Wanting to make a song into a ringtone.

Post » Wed Sep 15, 2010 2:31 pm

So there is a song that I have been really wanting to make a ringtone out of simply to have a nice alarm to wake up to instead of... "REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" or something along those lines.

Now normally I would google this kind of thing, but when I do the websites are... fishy, to say the least. I was wondering if you folks knew a nice, legal way to turn http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tUAiFQvxqO4 into a ringtone or not.

Do you want the full song, or do you want it to start at some other point?
You should simply be able to connect your phone to the computer and get the mp3 onto your phone.

But that really is a terrible alarm song...

What kinda phone do you have?

Things like blackberries have software provided by the phone-maker that let's you manage the phone's data files, while other phones won't make it so easy.

Most modern phones just use MP3s as ringtones. So you don't need to convert it, you just need to get it on your phone. How easy this is depends on what kind of phone you have.

I use Audacity to edit MP3s on my computer to the length I want, and add fade-in/out, then export as MP3, and then drag and drop it onto my phone's SD card. If you have a phone that has a cable that allows your computer to access its storage, that's easy. If you have a SD card reader with microSD (probably what your phone takes), that can also be easy if you find the right folder on it.

Or, you can email it to your phone number as an attachment, and it will send as an MMS message. You just have to know the format for the email address, which depends on your carrier.

It says the format somewhere on my phone. Alrighty then, thanks for the Feedback ^_^

And Diablo, I put it this way. Annoying loud alarms are just something that make you wake up and go, "Turn that thing off!". If I have that nice song for a ringtone though, Ill want to listen to it some more, and therefore have to wake up.

That sounds like wishfull thinking. :P
No song that calm, no matter how much I like it, could wake me up.
