Wants for Skyrim

Post » Mon Nov 01, 2010 10:23 pm

I live in a country with a LOT of snow, and on a sunny day, the snow has 10x more "bloom" than on any of this pictures.
I don't get it, the screens look perfect. That's exactly how snow looks.

Maybe the people complaining here haven't seen snow IRL :P

Have you been to snowy northern Finland in the winter?

I have.

Actually,i'm not complaining about the way snow looks. It's fine by me. My complaint comes down to 1:42 within the trailer. There's something off about that lighting.
However, i did appreciate the poster's rationale. Everything was explained through, in a sensible way.
We need more posts like that.

1) What i would like to see in ALL cRPGs is a slower progression of character damage, health etc. That is, leveling up should give character new option rather than making him stronger. Now i am not saying that characters should not get stronger as they gain levels, its just that they should get less stronger in numbers then they usually get, and instead get more new options.
Example:
Level 10 Fighter should not have so much bigger basic damage or health than Level 1 Fighter, but should have, disarm, power strike, critical strike, knockback, bash, cleave and such other things.

2) I would like to see spell attributes (damage) who are based on character abilities instead fixed numbers, so that any given spell is as useful on late game as early game

dude have you ever even played oblivion you get to choose which attritubutes you make higher and your main skills determine when you level up so dont talk if you dont even kno what the hell your talkin bout

Do you think it is still correctable? Is it the shaders that are no good? Please be specific. Who knows, you might help Bethesda address the issue.

Bethesda won't address the issue and even though it might be correctable the question is whether you want to correct it. As far as I know it's not an "issue" but rather a choice. You choose for either a open atmospheric world (Elder Scrolls) or a very limited detailed world (e.g. FEAR). With present day mainstream hardware you can't have both, and even as technology advances the same choices will probably have to be made. I'm guessing that if Bethesda would "fix" this issue and retain their overall game setup Skyrim would have a Crysis like launch, were no non-NASA associated person could properly run the game untill several years after its release.

Of course snow is "bloomy". It's white and HDR acts on that. But it's not that bloomy. It's should never be so bloomy that it gets saturated and changes colour.

Moreover, his shoulder/arm is the worst thing of all

Well, snow can be ridicilously bloomy. Also I think on the screenshot some of it may actually be ice, which would account for the change of colour. I fully agree with you on the shoulder though, but as I stated I don't see it as a problem.

What I want:

- DX11 support for PC.
- High-res textures, high-poly models and terrain, advanced lighting and water on PC.
- Full graphic settings menu on PC, not presets from console version.
- Spell making
- Advanced character customization options for PC.

Bethesda has already revealed that you can customize your characters body type and height. :)

Really?! Quote please. It's not that I don't believe you. I just want any doubts I have to go away. I'd love a height slider.

Werewolves/Vampires

Daedric weapons/artifacts: I loved collecting them all in Oblivion

A decent combat system

Better Customisation.

..If I got all of those I'd be a happy guy.

What I would want for Skyrim:

1. Lighting in-game affects stealing/sneaking to a strong degree.

2. Better NPC interaction with items and furniture.

3. A well planned & working economy in-game.

4. Mini quests to do with Trades. (Logging & Forging)

5. Lastly no voice actor recycling for NPCs. (This is what nearly drove me mad in Oblivion & try and out do Bioware on this one and you'll have my eternal thanks on that)
