War Torn America

The Old World has been shattered by the Great War, but that was centuries ago. The Capital, Washington D.C has dealt with various transgressions and shall soon face another group, The Enclave. The Flag-Bearer's of America some would say, others would call them genocidal psychopaths. But they have not made their entrance public yet, their broadcasts are yet to begin, though there are whispers of flying machines descending on Brotherhood teams, eliminating them on sight. Elder Lyons' Chapter has split from the main group of the Brotherhood and has begun aiding the citizens of the wasteland. And it is in this time that Protector Casdin formed his own group, the Outcasts. This is where you come in, as a member of this... War Torn America.

Rules
Spoiler

1.) Ensure you've read "So You Think You Can RP" if you have not already, it is not a holy grail but it does point out several key things that I will complain about.
2.) While we may be in Power Armor we are not gods, no you won't be taking out entire armies with your sniper rifle because you have "perfect accuracy" or killing armies of people with your minigun, etc.
3.) No God Modding, the Enclave will not have knowledge of the Brotherhood's Plans, the Outcasts wouldn't know the Enclave's, etc.
4.) Keep it realistic, Power Armor isn't plastic, you can't shoot through it easily.
5.) No God Modding, I hope I made this clear.
6.) Combat should be discussed by the two parties before hand if it involves two people.
7.) Assignments will be handled by the GM's if it involves the plot, those of you who RP High Ranks in the RP should double check with me (Yes Man FTW to ensure we don't have something planned out for that time period.

Colonel Connor Chamberlain, Raven Rock

The Colonel stood in the War Room, desperately awaiting his peers to arrive. Finally Colonel Autumn decided to enter the room "So, Colonel Chamberlain, what do you suggest we do about the Brotherhood of Steel? Their leadership is possibly fractured, we've seen a splinter group, the "Outcasts." Then there's the various raiders that pose minimal threat." Colonel Chamberlain placed several dossiers on the table, each was an operative he believed to be of importance, his file and the Lt. Colonel's were included as well. Codename: Pariah (Dr. Redfield.) Codename: Civility (Lt. James Faradan) Codename: Exchange (C.J. "Monster of the West" Shackleford) Codename: Flagstaff (Lt. Colonel Andrew Matthews) Codename: Season (Colonel Augustus Autumn) and Codename: Raven (Colonel Connor Chamberlain). He smiled a little bit "I assume you recognize the importance in each of these members Autumn?" Autumn nodded "Yes I see their significance, well most of them." The Lt. Colonel had entered the room, Chamberlain was of course the first to greet him "Ah, welcome Lt. Colonel. It's good to see you."
-------------

Protector Casdin, Fort Independence

The Protector marched down the halls in a glorious symphony of footsteps that demonstrated both order and precision with an inclusion of... haste. He had urgent business to attend to, and his fellow protector, Johnathan Hayes has proven to be loyal to their cause since the... separation of the group. "Ah, Hayes it's good to see you again. Now then what do you propose we do about that bastard Lyons?"
-----------

Elder Lyons, The Citadel

The Elder marched through the halls of the Citadel, not taking time to speak with the Scribes or Paladins. He simply needed to get to the briefing room as soon as possible. (OOC: BoS Guys can take it from here, busy)

(OOC: I made it seem like Fort Independence is a little larger, with the barracks and all. Other than that, it's all true.)
Chance Blackwood- Brotherhood of Steel Outcasts
The incessant droning of laughter and human voices within the mess hall broke the dead silence that accompanied Chance as he wordlessly re-assembled his CZ53 Personal Minigun, making sure to lubricate each and every one of the barrels and their pistons. When finished, he quickly bolted the individual barrels back onto the barrel clamp and retaining bolt. Sighing, he locked an empty drum magazine into the chamber, pushing the rather intimidating weapon under his bunk carelessly and strutting out of the barracks with a flip of the generator power and a slam of the double-doors.

He then continued down a dimly-lit corridor, passing roomfuls of Specialists and Defenders going about their usual routine before taking a left turn leading down a flight of stairs and into the lower levels of Fort Indepence. Moving at a brisk pace, he stopped nearby a rather messy room and stepped inside. Inside, papers and rusty file cabinets littered the floor. The only thing that seemed out of the ordinary was a small, ragged punching bag. Chance zipped open the top of his Outcast Recon Suit, letting it dangle by his waist as he slid on a pair of faded red boxing gloves.

Scowling slightly, he sent the first blow right square in the middle of the bag, a perfect shot that sent it spinning backwards. Slowly, his momentum built up with each shot, sending him into a state of total concentration as he released a hailstorm of blows upon the punching bag until the chain above began to loosen and crack after a little more than half an hour of methodical but adrenaline-influenced swings.

Sweat now pouring down his back and chest, Chance takes a seat on the cold floor nearby the bag. This will be enough rage for a day.

Lt. Colonel Andrew Matthews, Raven Rock

Boot steps echoed down the corridors of Raven Rock as Lt. Colonel Matthews made his way through the winding hallways and electronic doorways towards the direction of the war-room. Dressed in his ODI high command uniform, he was easily recognizable among the various individuals going about their own businesses. Several saluted and others, civilians all, made sure to clear out the way. When an ODI officer was walking quickly somewhere, it usually meant something of upmost importance, and this occasion was certainly no exception. Matthews had an intelligence debriefing meeting with colonels Autumn and Chamberlain, and he certainly had no intention of being late.

Checking the time, Matthews lifted his arm in which he was carrying a briefcase and examined his watch.

Right on schedule, he thought with a small degree of satisfaction. He took pride in being punctual. It showed tact and responsibility: characteristics needed if one wanted to advance through the ranks. He certainly hadn't attained his Lt. Colonel rank without merit.

Stopping before the doors of the war room, he waited for them to automatically open before he stepped inside, to be greeted by Colonel Chamberlain,

"Ah welcome, Lt. Colonel, its good to see you."

"Likewise sir," Matthews replied with a sharp salute. After saluting Colonel Autumn as well, he placed his briefcase on the war room table and sat down, opening the case with a 'click.' Taking out a few manila folder documents, he sat them on the table and waited for Colonel Chamberlain and Autumn to be seated and ready to hear his report. After a few moments, they gave him the go-ahead.

"Well sirs," He began, "As you both are I'm sure aware, our most recent intelligence reports have come in both from our eyebot observers and ODI scouts in the field. Needless to say, the situation is tense at best. "

Clicking a button on the war-table, a hologram suddenly appeared in the center of it, detailing a map of the Capital Wasteland,

"First off, we have definite confirmation that the Brotherhood group currently taking up residence within the Fort Independence area is a splinter group of the main Brotherhood of Steel force located at the Pentagon. From what our scouts have gathered, these groups have been known to exchange fire on occasion so its clear that their separation was not on friendly terms. Assuming we play our cards right, we could use this division to a distinct advantage once we launch our operation. For both Brotherhood groups, their weapons and armor is antiquated compared to our own equipment, but certainly nothing to scoff at. They are without a doubt the most armed and dangerous group currently opposing us within the Capital Wasteland."

"Aside from them," Matthews continued switch the hologram over, "There are other pockets of heavily armed groups. By far the most populous of these appears to be the various bandit raider groups which roam the Capital region. They are vicious, armed, and cruel to the extreme. Based on eyebot reports, the location of heaviest concentration appears to be the Evergreen Mills area, although we have not yet determined if this is just a larger group or if perhaps the raiders have some sort of primitive command structure. If so, their "leader" could very well reside within the old factory."

The hologram then switched to a zoomed in map of the Fort-Banister area, with various points of interest labelled,

"Following that we have the mercenary group known as Talon Company, which appears to have its headquarters within the former U.S. military base of Fort Bannister. After the two Brotherhood groups, they are what ODI has placed as the next greatest opposition. A Class C paramilitary group. They are certainly not aligned with any one faction however, and have been known to engage both Brotherhoods and indeed anyone they come across in open combat. We're still looking into their primarily objectives and who might be pulling their strings, but thus far its extremely difficult to tell without further ground work. Intelligence has reported their presence in the ruins of the Capital though, which will need to be noted."

Taking a deep breath, Matthews folded his hands together and looked at the two colonels sitting opposite him, waiting for some sort of response. After a couple moments silence to let the two senior officers digest what he had just relayed, Matthews spoke up.

"If there are any questions sirs, I'd be happy to answer them."

OOC: Not quite sure what you were looking for in the debriefing, so I gave general info.

Lt. Dr. Christine Redfield - Raven Rock

Doctor Redfield walked down the corridors of Raven Rock. Walking past soldiers, officers, and civilians. She was called upon a meeting with Colonel Chamberlain and Colonel Autumn. She did not know what it was about but it was the utmost of importance. Doctor Redfield wore her signature mask but was around her neck, which revealed herself. She wore her lab coat and her black clothing.

Doctor Redfield was now at the door where the meeting was held at. She entered in. Colonel Chamberlain and Colonel Autumn was there. But then she glanced upon Lt. Col. Matthews, head of the ODI which was the de facto authority of lesser offices and departments. She was part of the Enclave Science Department which the ODI had authority over it.

"Doctor Redfield here as reported Colonel Chamberlain and Colonel Autumn."

Doctor Redfield waved a at Lt. Col. Matthews.

Redfleid saw a hologram dealing with the entirety of Washington D.C or now known as the Capital Wasteland.

C.J "Monster of The West" Shackelford - Georgetown

Evening

C.J. took a seat on a ruined bench and simply stared. Georgetown was a sight for his sore eyes. The old world buildings filled him with nostalgia and sorrow; he still stayed seated without any intention of going inside the house. A black breathing mask rested in his hands. He prepared to fasten it onto his face once more, but he restrained and set it in his light backpack when he could distinctly hear the creaking of a door behind him.

"Long day?" asked the woman behind him.

"Oh, you'd have no idea, Taylor," replied C.J.

"Perhaps, since I am your -wife- after all, you could be fully honest with me," said Taylor. C.J. pondered this for a second. The deeds and events that occur within the Capital Wasteland would only pierce her innocent heart.

"You'd best not know what happens here. Suffice it to say, love, that the way people live here is much different than what we are used to." C.J. dropped his pack to the ground with ease before standing up to embrace his wife.

"Well, I'd appreciate it if you could find some food, then. Perhaps you can go back up to trade with Dave. I'm tolerant of -temporarily- living in the middle of this dead place, but I'm not tolerant of starving," said Taylor before letting him go and backing out of the long hug.

"Yes. I will find some food. Go back into the house, lock it, and get some sleep. Be thankful that you actually can. The pre-war owners left this key hidden under a stone in case of emergency." C.J. handed a small door-key to Taylor.

"Hopefully we will eat like royalty tonight. Be safe, hon'. I'll be waiting for ya'," said Taylor before returning to the house. After C.J. heard the lock slip shut, he retrieved the breathing mask from his pack once more and fastened it to his face. He slung his pack around his shoulders, and walked about half a block before coming upon a cellar whose entrance had been outside. C.J. opened the tough, rotted hinge on the outside of the small doors and entered the cellar, shutting the cellar-door behind him. He could hear a familiar, muffled moan from the other side of the cellar.

"Miss me?" asked C.J. before setting his pack on the floor and walking up to a figure in the far side of the room. His voice was muffled and distorted due to the mask. A man was visible with a piece of thick tape over his mouth. C.J. ripped the tape off of the man's mouth.

The prisoner breathed heavily before he spoke. "Why the hell are you still keeping me here? Better yet, what is the point of feeding me as well? Sentiment?" asked the prisoner.

"No. You're of great value. Perhaps even to some people who I want to gain good terms with," said C.J.

"I don't know who you speak of, but trust me, you don't want to do this," replied the prisoner.

"And you think you are in charge here?" asked C.J. He moved the side of his jacket, revealing a laser pistol that had been previously spray-painted red.

"I have....A decent deal of money."

"And you think this gives you power here? The price of survival is higher than bottle caps, my friend," said C.J. in an even more cynical tone. At the sound of this gesture, the prisoner struggled in the chain that had been applied to both of his feet and arms. C.J. moved back to his backpack and retrieved a loaf of bread with a bottle of dirty water. He tossed the loaf of bread in the direction of the prisoner. The man ate the loaf of bread like a bird pecking at the ground for crumbs. He then opened the dirty water and forced it into the man's mouth. After the man had been fully hydrated, C.J. moved to a dark corner of the room. He silently watched his prisoner eat the loaf of bread while he stared into space, deep in thought. C.J. was planning the next lie he would tell his wife.

Protector Jonathan Hayes - Outcasts - Fort Independence

Going over a map of current Brotherhood positions, Hayes pondered whether engaging them in open-warfare was a wise course of action. They'd essentially abandoned the Codex, they'd abandoned hundreds of years of upholding the central tenant of the organization they claimed to continue to serve. They were fools, all of them! John remembered though how he'd fought beside those men and women, admired Lyons, and followed him the same way the rest did now. That was before though, before the Elders back West no longer supported Lyons. He was hardly fit to lead if the Elders were not behind him. Despite their cutting of supplies or the like, they still considered Lyons apart of the Brotherhood. It did not matter though, they did not believe in Lyons and neither should anyone else. It was not his people's right to hold the name of the Brotherhood of Steel just as it was and is not the Brotherhood's responsibility to protect the savages that inhabit the wastes.

It was a trying decision, a personal one for now. But, if he did decide war, it would have to be brought up with Casdin. He was leaning towards open fighting, Lyons had to be taught a lesson. All the technology he and his cohorts held taken for the people it belonged to, the Brotherhood. Then, finally, the Outcasts could have access to what Lyons greedily held for he and his ilk. Afterwards, they'd be in position to further their goal and complete their mission at last. From the Pentagon, technology would be salvaged and old forts such as the one the Outcasts currently inhabited would be scoured for resources. All that stood in their way was Lyons and his forces. Hostilities remained from the schism and Hayes knew none of the men would object to settling things with the old man in his castle once and for all. It was final then, the time had come.

Still quite early in the morning, Hayes chose to look over his equipment. Standing from his chair, the Protector moseyed over to his weapons cabinet beside his armor-rack and opened the door. Inside lay his modified AER9 laser rifle, modified Wattz 1000 laser pistol and machete. He grabbed his rifle and sat back on his bed with a rag from a bench alongside his bed and some grease. Carefully, he picked the rifle apart and took care of each little piece of it. He took special time and caution with the crystal array, making certain it was aligned correctly. Next up was the wave and particle diverter which was given the same treatment to provide maximum effectiveness. Once his rifle was in top-form, Hayes moved onto his black and red T-45d Power Armor. Cleaning it and oiling what needed to be over the course of a few minutes. Once he finished, he replaced his armor and his rifle in their respective holders.

Turning from his own room, John thought it time to discuss things with Casdin, perhaps he too would see that war was inevitable. The Protector walked rather swiftly from his own room down the hall, seeking the founder of his order. Casdin had to be near, he was always about the base. After a short period of searching which included racing through corridors and hallways, Hayes located the man he sought. The senior Protector opened with greeting and asked what his thoughts were on Lyons.

" Sir, I've actually been thinking of that very thing. I think it best we wait until they show weakness, or are preoccupied with another matter, that is when we should strike at them. Due to advantage they hold in the area of numbers, this is the safest course of action that will offer the element of surprise. That in turn will save lives on our side and though we tend not to say it outright, we need all the men we have. In addition, I have a list of locations that Lyons' men occupy, if you'd like I could suggest areas for first offensives to be aimed. The Brotherhood has a large presence in the ruins of D.C. and few outposts or such outside the ruins. So, we must start from the wastes and work in. "

Lt. James Faradan --Raven Rock

"Sir, I would like to know where my next mission is, Colonel." Faradan asks while saluting the Colonel.

"[redacted until further notice]" Colonel Chamberlain responds as he hands Faradan the folder with the briefing in it.

Faradan almost smiled at the remark to his last mission. He had successfully scouted out the raider camp just as his mission had said. However it did not have anything to do with killing everyone in the camp. Faradan didn't care they were just going to be a problem anyway. "Why not solve the problem immediately," he'd thought.

The Colonel started to walk away then stops and says, "[redacted until further notice]"

Confused Faradan looks in the folder. Nothing. "Of course, the Colonel doesn't trust me to follow orders unless I have a reason to," Faradan thinks while walking away, looking for Lt. Colonel Matthews, smiling.

Colonel Connor Chamberlain, Raven Rock

Hmm... no mention of the purifier, such an odd thing. Chamberlain simply placed his briefcase on the table with the grace of a falcon. "Thank you Lt. Colonel, now if you don't mind I believe that you, the Dr., and that sniper over there." His agent had just entered the room "...could use a debrief." He clicked a remote similar to the Lt. Colonel's that displayed the Pre-War Pentagon, now known as the Brotherhood's Citadel and began to speak. "This is the Citadel, in the Old World it was known as the Pentagon. I assume you know your history so I wont be going into detail, but what you need to know is that the building is Federal Property and is to be treated as such, we shall only damage it as a last resort, do I make myself clear?" He then clicked the remote again, flicking to a picture of a Vault, with the numbers 101 painted on the door, chipped like the fractured state it was in. "This however is another matter, about a month back this Vault had either a fugitive or a diplomat cast out into the Wasteland, we know little about the fugitive other than they are in the possession of a mercenary who has offered to give him to us, Autumn can elaborate as to why."

Colonel Autumn retrieved the remote with seemingly no emotion on his face. "We know that he has rescued his father, a researcher on the purifier, from that experiment, Tranquility Lane. However, he is not a direct threat as of this moment, but I fear he could become one, his father has ties to the Brotherhood of Steel, though we don't have the specifics."

Colonel Chamberlain chimed in "We are going to retrieve him immediately, Lt. Dr. Redfield, the Lt. Colonel, and Lt. Faradan will accompany me and three grunts to the meeting, I believe that is all, do you have anything to add Lt. Colonel? If not the Vertibird should be ready."

Lt. Dr. Christine Redfield - Raven Rock

Redfield listend to Chamberlain's agent. He briefed her and another officer, Lieutenant Faradan about the Pentagon which has now become know as the "Citadel." Though what peaked her interest was Vault 101. Apparently a member of that Vault went out in to the wastes which is a bad idea for pure stock human. She now had the idea of contacting Vault 101 and gaining the trust of them. This would further ESD research and the Enclave would gain a high tech facility and also for a recentp roject Doctor Redfield plans to start, "Wasteland Genome Project" (WGP). Vault 101 would be useful for the Enclave's advancement.

Redfiled had no clue about this Vault members father but has ties with the Brotherhood of Steel which she has no information about.

And now, it seemed they were to go out immediatley. Redfield decided to adress the higher ups voicing her opinions.

"Sir, from my point of view we should mount an expedition to Vault 101 to see if we can contact its inhabitants. It would be highly useful for Enclave research advancement and we would have another facility at our use. Another one useful would be to Vault 112. I would partucalrly like to gain the V112 simulators for some "experiemnts" I have in mind" Redfield said coldly. I would also like to know about this "Brotherhood of Steel", and this "Dad", what is there disposition?"

Lt. James Faradan -- Raven Rock

"No. You heard what Colonel Autumn said. His father has ties to the Brotherhood there's no way we should trust him. We should execute him immediately. Not to mention that it will show the Brotherhood who is actually in charge."

"And what use could a vault do all it does is add another location we have to man. And there's no tactical advantage other than it being closer to that radioactive waste dump Megaton!'

"The only thing that sounds useful is the Vault 112, but again there's no tactical advantage. And will you stop mentioning Tranquility Lane. I don"t know what it is but i"m sure it's not tranquil."

Lt. Dr. Christine Redfield - Raven Rock

"We never even encountered them before so how would you know about the Brotherhood of Steel disposition. Answer that question?"

"Have you ever thought of the scientific yield Vault 101 would give us. Those pure stock of Human breed will allow us to have another stock where Enclave citizens can breed without having to go through the tight knit breeding process we have here in Raven Rock. And besides Megaton will be part the Enclave if its people wish to support its former goverment. If they dont, just send a squad to mop them for all I care."
