Wards, how useful are they?

I know they can't substitue block, which is why I took alteration as well to reduce physical damage. Anyways, how useful are wards at Higher Levels? Like against the High level Briarhearts, Dragons, and Cryomancers(or Electromancers, w/e).

Good against Dragons. Not so good at anything else. With a good spell, enemy mages will break the ward.

Yep, good against dragons, useless against anything else at higher levels. You'd be better off with a healing spell.

Thing is, I don't think dragons have spells that can possibly get through your ward.

Dragon Breath can and will break a ward. Howeevr, you take no damage during the stagger animation.

Another useful feature of Wards is to block those [censored] Disarm shouts

I rarely use ward spells; however, I've found Spellbreaker to be quite the prize even at high levels for warrior-type characters when competing with mages or dragons.

I think I'm one of the few people that use wards all the time. They protect you from magic, and add a little physical resistance. You need to watch the elbows of casters and when they move, cast your ward. With the spell absorb perk it's really useful.

(Wards+Spell absorb+Shock spells are useful for Mage VS Mage)
