Many moons ago, I would post a Warp Drive thread every so often to get people's opinions and allow speculations on the matter. The last one I posted, probably in like 2010, had to do with the Johnson Space Center in Houston experimenting/testing with the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alcubierre_drive. The research was being led by Dr. Harold “Sonny” White at the Johnson Space Center (JSC) in Houston. Over the next few years the JSC would periodically post declassified documents relating to the research onto nasa.gov. As of April 2015, NASA has removed all article relating to the Alcubierre Drive from its' main site, having "archived" them.

As early as last week, a new type of engine named the EM-Drive (which debuted last summer) was said to have accidentally created a warp field at the JSC. This week, NASA has confirmed that the EM-Drive does indeed produce thrust inside of a vacuum but the notion of the warp field is not mentioned in the article (unless I missed something).

The drive is currently undergoing more testing by numerous teams to finally confirm without a doubt of it's capabilities and I assume whether or not it's actually producing a warp field. Considering that a ship equipped with an EM-Drive would only need a 1.0 MW nuclear reactor to make a trip to the moon in 4 hours and that the US Navy uses 220 MW reactor on some of it's ships, we have the available technology to make this a feasible option for space flight (with or without warp field tech). If the EM-Drive does indeed create a warp field then it's applications would indeed allow for FTL travel without breaking Einsteins' Laws. Kinda like what the Alcubierre Drive was going to do.

This is all assuming that NASA's findings are indeed correct.
