warrior against dancing mages and archers

On your warrior character (if there exists one ) what's your method for dealing with a bunch of mages/archers? its annoying when they just bounce around the place spewing stuff at you while im trying to whack them with my goddamned heavy daedric swords.
And im already wearing light armor, so im at the fastest as can be without being naked.

Any methods other than using shouts?

Use the terrain to gain the tactical advantage. Force a mage or an archer into close quarters by luring it into crammed places.

If you're out in an open field I guess you're in trouble though :P

There is a poison that slows enemys by 50%. Can be crafted regardless of level and skill.
I only remember Salt as ingredient, but the other one was common to.
Also there is a paralysis poison. Mages should be dead before they can run again.
Otherwise hide behing something and wait until they come to you.
Atronarch Stone reduces Magic Damage while having it.
Shouts are the easiest way though.

Umm... hide for a bit. It works the best for me on higher difficulties. NPCs don't actually have a bottomless magicka pool. Eventually they waste most of it trying to hit you while you dodge behind stuff. Not always a viable tactic based on surroundings, but its pretty effective where you can.

This actually poses a lovely challenge, I hide behind a rock or something, then when the mage takes a break I run forward full sprint and do a dashing power atack at him, that or Unrelenting Force, and ofcourse, there are paralyzing potions, which are very useful

And lets not forget the mighty and (my favorite) shout, Slow Time. Basically, it turns you into The Flash, and you can move around faster than they

As a stealth character who falls back on dual-wielding when I've been spotted, I feel your pain, OP. I'll chase mages and archers and try to power attack them, but they bounce around like pinballs on PCP and are difficult to hit.

My solution has been to just keep on using my bow, works wonders on them.

One Handed weapons are better for just exactly this reason.

Trying to deal with kiters is a nightmare when wielding a slow and cumbersome two handed weapon, but with a light, fast one handed sword, you turn them into swiss cheese while darting after them.

The steed stone (naked run speed while wearing full heavy armor for instance) also does wonders.

Aside from that, the only other way to defeat them is to pull out your bow/sneak up on them.

If there's a frost mage then a direct melee assault is suicide unless you take them by surprise.

Also remember that a true warrior will also possess the mastery of any weapon, and so a bow is handy to have, even if your skill is low :P

Funny thing, though: Enemy archers and casters seem to be much better than the player at backpedaling and moving quickly while still casting spells and firing arrows.

I agree and melee must not charge at you. Melololololol must be stationary, toololololol.

Bum rush them.

I use the sword critical when sprinting to get a critical on opponents.

I've been playing sword and board through out. Here is how..

1. Make sure sanguine rose is fully charged.
2. As soon as you enter the fight cast sanguine rose
3. Case sanguine rose whenever the spawned mob dies
4. Spend most of the fight using line of sight, healing and shield bash to interrupt casting.

Sanguine Rose + caster companion + dog = retardedly easy

On your warrior character (if there exists one ) what's your method for dealing with a bunch of mages/archers? its annoying when they just bounce around the place spewing stuff at you while im trying to whack them with my goddamned heavy daedric swords.
And im already wearing light armor, so im at the fastest as can be without being naked.

Any methods other than using shouts?

Resist magic armour. Run through the spells laughing and then hit them in the face.

As frustrating as some of those fights can be, they're actually some of my favorites because those whiny little punks usually end up skewered on my greatsword. I hunt them down, push them up against corners, svck down plenty of magic resistance potions and just remain patient until I can get my kill-shot in. I usually try for one good full sprint overhead swing which cuts them in two :celebration:

I doubt it. Anyway, I don't know what you have against shouts. Become Ethereal already solves that problem.

I just bum rush them and take them out as quickly as possible. If you invest in enchanting you can put enchants on your armor to resist their spells (assuming the glitch has been fixed).

Other than that a good bow is an option if you can get behind some cover and whittle them away some.

Good armour, good shield with high skill in using both (shield wall + deflect arrows, elemental protection + Block Runner ) , tactical combat movement.
Still, without shouts and a good shield or enchanted gear your chances are very limited - as they should be.

Alchemy can provide enough protection to counter spells. And it is INSTANT. No need to reequip anything, no need to cast, no time used for drinking a potion at all.

i usually bum rush them then cleave them with my battle axe...a running power attack usually takes out a mage in 1 swing, if they're far you can use whirlwind shout to close the gap. Also a companion provides a distraction, i usually bring aela as she tends to stay out of my way and fires arrows
