Warrior: Heavy or light armored

Post » Fri Jun 07, 2013 9:35 pm

I am curious as to what style of warrior is most popular.

Whether it be the pure warrior full of physical protection and damage (maxed out stamina) in heavy armor such as Dragonplate, Ebony, or Steel plate & Mail armors swinging heavy maces and battle-axes or whether the lighter footed archer / swordsman style of play who is still able to sneak around and caste a bit of magic to support is preferred?

I'm not interested in Battlemages and Spellswords etc as to me they are more mage than warrior

I voted heavy, although I enjoy both styles greatly.

There is something about tanking through an entire bandit camp, laughing as your victims charge into the inevitable slaughter that is Dovahkiin.

But then again, there is also something to being the swift messenger of death. Traveling like a whirlwind from target to target, leaving a trail of bodies in your wake.

As long as the bandits are dead in the end I guess.

I voted heavy, but I most wear a mixture.
like heavy boot and gauntlets with a light armour.

Heavy armour here, although you could work light armour on your character if you had good smithing skill. I just find traditionally, heavy armour is better (looks and protection) for warrior characters rather then the lighter amours. Imo light amours are more for rangers, assassins and spellswords who need to move quickly but aren't generally in the middle of the combat.

Also, what would you call a heavy armoured character that duel wields swords?

I prefer light armor and axes (war-axe with shield or battle-axe, no matter which one because both are good weapons to go with light armor). Heavy armor slows you down too much and makes it hard to dodge hits and arrows.

Where's the option for mixed? I always go with mixed armor regardless of playstyle, that way both light and heavy armor skills advance whenever I get hit.

Yeah, I know. I was just being funny. Well, I hope it was funny enough. Anyways, I just called them Beserkers. But that just implies Orc. I don't know. Go with

This.

When you have options like Steel Plate, Ebony and Daedric, it kind of narrows the selectives.

In my opinion, a Paladin would be among the Heavy Armor group.

I voted Heavy Armor. In Skyrim, I have greatly enjoyed playing a Shadow Knight. Dual Wield, Heavy Armor, and Conjuration.

I prefer light. In my opinion, Dragonscale Armor is clearly the coolest armor of the whole game.

I'm guessing it can fall under something like a knight or a man-at-arms..

Knights / Man-at-arms can use any style of melee combat whether it be one-handed, block or two-handed. Blade, blunt or axe.

I can't remember the different between the two but I think a knight is more geared up for mounted combat and wears more plate armor rather than chainmail.

While most characters I play are hybrids of sorts, the most common one I play is based on the Crusader from Morrowind and Oblivion, which means it is mostly combat focused. I prefer to be heavily armored.

I voted heavy armor but I like both styles of armor.

That said one of my funnest characters was a two-handed light armor wearer
