Warrior recommendation

Post » Wed Mar 09, 2011 8:43 pm

I was thinking the other day about how the warrior could avoid a lock picking skill because mages can have the Open Lock spells and thieves have the lock picks I was wondering if the Warrior/combat classes could have like a Bash open door or like kick open door option. I am fairly new to these forums so I am not sure if Bethesda checks these but if they do please think of including this so us Combat classes can get the loot we want without having to take security(Well you dont have to but it helps alot) if you have any suggestions purely for the warrior or a melee focused class please post it and tell me what you think about this idea or what could be the flaws of it(It will be based on your strength or maybe a skill?)

Could be based on weapon skill, but there should be a significant chance that you destroy some of the loot in the chest.

Hmm... door bash would be interesting. It would be very loud though, so you couldn't just do it in an occupied area. Mainly for dungeons I suppose.

But I dunno, I think they're just going to stay with the lock picks. As far as Oblivion goes you didn't really need a high security skill to pick locks anyways.

Sounds like a fair idea. Come up with a reasonable consequence, preferably something not determined completely by a dice roll because that would be negated by simply saving right before you attempt to force the lock.

It's not a totally outlandish idea, Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul lets you bash locks, works like a charm assuming you don't mind an even more frequent repair bill and ruining any chance of sneaking past enemies.

Door bashing minigame? Figure out the appropriate number of kicks in the right places on the door to open it?

No real minigame, a simple attempt is sufficient. At low skill you're more likely to get hurt though than succeed against doors, and more likely to destroy the lock than succeed against chests.

Giving 2handed Skill a mid level perk that can smash open locks = wouldn't be such a horrible idea.

Sure though they should be given one try I guess to make it fair. Do a bad kick and the lock is jammed causing the door to be stuck as well.

Minor point, but wouldn't people living in the frozen north, in a town full of hard drinking Nords with axes, have really strong doors.

So it might be difficult to bash down doors in towns before the guards catch you, but you should be able to break old decaying dungeon doors. But not the dwemer ones, those are pretty resilient.

We don't have a class now, so that saves them form having to think of a way for a warrior to do things, since you can't really be a warrior anyway and not take the skills... So the point is regretfully mute but this time.

Imagine you heard that a fugitive escaped from jail ( not including your self) and you find out where he/she is hold up in an abandoned house and you go to the top floor and you are about to go in door and finish him/her off. Then you realize that the door is barred and you do a stomping front kick and you knock the door down and you impale the fugitive and you get your reward. The End. :mohawk:
