Warriors of the Nine

I'm liking the line-up so far. DarkNova, Jade looks good, with none of the problems usually associated with assassin characters. :goodjob:

Agreed. I can't pick between them; Lance's funny ways are great but this Jade seems really interesting- an assassin that still acts like a human being, which is rare with most characters of the same class.

Ooh, KK, I like Vhirk, too. I think both his personality and his abilities would mesh well with the group. My one complaint is that... well, 78 is a bit old for someone to look 19. When I make a young elf, I usually put him at 30s and 40s. 78 is when most low-born Dunmer (the ones without an easy life or a lot of magic) begin to start showing their age. I only complain because your Dunmer "kid" is just 50 years short of my old fogey. :P

Yeahhhhh.... i kinda couldnt remember how old i made him before so i just randomly hit 2 numbers and called it.....

ill lower it if i use him which i may end up doing as 2 people seem to like him so far

Wowzers, this really bloomed as I was sleeping...

@Illusionary: Just stick with one character for now. If this survives long enough, I'll allow certain people to use a secondary static-character.

I'm estimating we have around 5-6 confirmed 'Nine' characters. So that means not many slots are left. Once the slots are full, I'll put the RP into motion.

Yeah, this RP is really blossoming; I imagine it'll be a success. :)

If I do make my character, I'm thinking of making him a tag along but if you really do need another 'Nine' character then do you want me fill in one of those slots?

If you'd like either of my characters to be one of 'the Nine,' feel free to ask, Jerod.

I'll echo Chriso's question here; do you want me to take up a 'Nine' slot, or shall we wait to see if those who reserved spots still want them?

I'm happy to have Thalia just be a tag-along, though :)

Hi, Elgen. It seems a lot of veteran RPers are returning.

Jerod, what is the name of the rural village the town starts off at? My character is going to be a farmer who's lived in this particular village all his life. :)

Too many questions! Aaaargh! *Heads explodes*

@Chriso and Alakata: Do what you want. Either tag along, or be one of the nine, I don't care.

@DarkNova: Both Jade and Lance are very interesting characters. Lance, with his immaturity could pick on the younger 'Nine' and make the group not get along with each other. Jade, on the other hand, would strike most of the other Nine as unusual, and would probably try an avoid her. Choose which ever one you think is better :)

@Nilloc: I haven't received a PM at all today, but feel free to post in in here.

@Elgen: Yes.

@Chriso again: It's a small village by a large river, many merchants travel through this small trading town. Haven't really thought of a name though, if you want, you can give it a name.

Go for Jade, Darky.

Full name: Jack Stone
Name for other RPers to call your character: whatevah.
Race: Breton
Gender: Male
Age: 25
Focus: Ranger (which would include stealth and stalking and that jazz)
Skills: Marksman, blade, survival(both in the wild, and in general), stealth and light armour.

General appearance: Blonde, short hair. He's a man of medium weight, but strong build. With his broad shoulders he might easily be taken for a nord, but he's got no nord blood that he knows of. His eyes are piercing blue, and the look in them is indicative of both thought and power.

Hair: Blonde short, somewhat curly.
Eye colour: Blue, on the border to grey.
Height: 6ft
Mental description: Jack is a man of mild mood. Though he has his quirks, he's usually open to what other people means and thinks, even though he'll mostly think they're wrong. He's got variable moral standards, and may or may not keep his word depending of the importance to himself. He is mostly guided by his inner compass.

Weapon: Steel longsword and wooden longbow. Also has a few daggers hidden away on various parts of himself.

Clothing/armour worn most often: Black clothing, dark cloak and leather boots. He likes to conceal himself, especially at night.

Inventory: Quiver with arrows. Dagger, waterskin, some septims, meat. All of this ('cept the arrows of course) placed in a backpack.

Quick Bio: Jack grew up in a safe and good home on the outskirts of Cyrodiil, and I won't bore you with the details. In advlt life, he roamed the wild, mostly just wandering from town to town, hunting
and taking jobs here and there. He kept in good shape, and quickly learnt the rules of the lands, how to survive in the world. He learned how to fight in the cities, and soon guarded caravans from Morrowind, earning him enough money to get by, and allowing him to see new land.

I didn't make this terribly long. I am not going to uber with it. It isn't like it is unrealistic.

Character Sheet

Name: Arethan Andas
Gender: Male
Birthsign: The Mage (of course)
Race: Dunmer
Age: 330
Apparent Age: 32

Physical Appearance:

Arethan is a moderately sized Dunmer, built with muscle tone. He is not extreme in muscle composition. Arethan wears an old rugged face, with many tiny unnoticeable rugged scars. His skin is moderately colored, with him not being a very dark or light Dunmer. Arethan features deep red eyes as any Dunmer. Arethan is average in speed, but does not need a great physical ability. He works with melee weapons with strength, and uses much Magic. It is always good to have a back up style.

Apparel:

(Ebony armor isn't really better than steel. It just is his style...) Arethan wears Ebony armor, which was given to him by Alemexia. It isn't really any better than steel, but was given to him for honor. He usually wears a cool linen shirt under it. The ebony itself is plate, with golden strips lining through it, and the joints. He wears no helmet, and wears bracers. Gauntlets do not allow you to cast spells. The bracers have magic in-carvings in them. Arethan's armor is somewhat scratched do to past conflicts.

Weapons:

Arethan keeps an ebony longsword across him back on a strap. It was given to him by King Helseth. He only uses it for close defense. Most of his primary attack is magic.

Misc:

Arethan keeps potions and poisons of a sort on his belt. His belt is colored black, and holds many things, including a small poison dagger that he hardly ever uses. The dagger is black. The belt is said to have been from a thief breaking into Alemexia's temple that was struck down by Arethan.

Mentality: Arethan's mentality is his weakness. He is smart; however, he often has a quick temper for those that annoy him. He realizes many things when he is calm, but when he sees others do something arrogant, he grows angry, and often does something arrogant himself.

History: Most of Arethan's childhood details are unknown. He grew up in Morrowind, and went through dire training at a young age. He was taught many great skills by the temple and Televanni houses, since his father came from one, and his mother the other. You can see his Dunmer style reflect on his fighting, but many of his tactics and spells came from the arcane university, and then enhanced by Dunmer culture/tactics. He was admitted into the university at age 200, and studied for many years there. Most estimate it was around 75, but it was not documented by anyone other than Arethan. He then worked as a her-hand for Amelexia, and rose to the rank of being captain over the her-hands. Soon, after hearing about the hero of Morrowind, he retired. Only weeks later Amelexia and the her-hands were killed. He fought his way through the Oblivion Crises, being a body guard for King Helseth, and aiding Mournhold against a Daedric Oblivion gate. Now his adventures are elsewhere.

Okay, I'm working on my sheet now. I'm hoping it'll be done by tomorrow. :)

Oh and Jerod... I can't think of any decent names for the village so I'm just going to call it 'The Village', for now. Original, I know. :P

Alright. Sorry for double post, but I need to say something.

When you are doing Elven age, take the age he/she would be as a human, and multiply it by ten.

Elves are children for the first 150 years of their lives.

So, if your elf is 300, he is 30. If he is 150, he is 15. If he is 1, then he 0.1

Not according to the good folks at the Lore forum.

There's some dispute, but this is the consensus that I've seen. According to them, elven lifespans are more flexible than humans, but they're not usually that long.

Bosmer and Dunmer tend to live to about 150-200, give or take. Altmer average about 300.

Low-class elves, or elves that have done a lot of hard work all their lives can expect to live to about 120.

2 things are known to extend lifespans: easy lives and magic. I'm not clear on the details, but these things can add a century or two to most lifespans. Telvanni tend to live pretty long, for example. Barenziah, at 500, is exceptional, but not un-heard of, since she has royal blood and has lived the life of a noble. Divath Fyr, at 4000, is downright astonishing, but he's something of an exception.

Lore buffs are free to correct me, but I have seen the sources that the Lore people use, and these ages seem sound.

Divayth is 4000! Whoa... now that's magic! :P

Oh and I am working on my sheet, it's just taking a while. I'd love to get it done tonight, but realistically it'll likely be done tomorrow. :)

Some of my good friends that I have worked with that indeed know a lot of lore have taught me this.

It isn't like it really makes a difference though.

Characters are characters. Lets not turn this into an argument.

Not really arguing. Just pointing out something that I think is fallacious. As everyone here knows, I love my elves, so have done a bit of research regarding this very issue.

Here's a good post on the subject, by Dogsbody. It's complete with Lore sources.

http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?s=&showtopic=855856&view=findpost&p=12465156

EDIT: But yeah, I'm not making an issue out of your character's age or anything. I just don't think that's an accurate rule of thumb. :P
