Warriors of the Nine

Post » Thu Aug 26, 2010 8:17 am

This seems very interesting - just the sort of thing I was looking for to get me back into rping :)

Pencil me in for a non-Nine spot, I think; I'm definitely interested, but like Chriso I'm happy enough to play a minor character who's just tagging along because they felt like it.

Who wants to be a hero, anyhow? :P

Thats really what I'm doing to, referring to the 'get back into Rping' bit. I was waiting for someone to make an RP that would sound interesting to me, but after a while I was like ''Screw it'', and ended making this. Once I saw 'The 13th Warrior', this RP just automatically started putting itself together in my head :)

Also, I'll be posting an early sketch of my CS...

Possibly. Peleus said he'd get back to me on editing it. I'm not the best at polishing my stories, that's why I ask for help :3

I was first thinking that you guys could all fight to the death over the last eight slots, but, I changed my mind due to my scenario being rather time consuming ... and messy.

But, I'll do as first come first serve.

That's six right there, so everyone else is going to have to negotiate over the last three slots. Remember, you can also play as a non-nine character that follows them around or something. So if you can't be one of the Nine, you could always be something else.

Well, I meant to RP as well but if the roster's already full...

I CALL ONE OF TEH NINE!!!!!111

YES! I got in. I feel like one of those people who get to get into one of those really fancy restaurants after a one-month reservation.

I'm thinking about creating a fierce little Breton. His main skill will be creativity and problem solving, with a little trapping and hand to hand up his sleeve. His best friend and pet, http://animals.nationalgeographic.com/staticfiles/NGS/Shared/StaticFiles/animals/images/primary/bobcat.jpg (yes, he is religious), always is with him. Even though direct communication is impossible, the two can somewhat communicate using actions and facial expressions.

Edit: Went from 'People who were more polite in their yes's' from 'Look at that noob, lemme go pwn him.'

Edit 2: Feel free to mess with my char, that is just the rough draft pre-write idea sheet with a picture of a kitty on it.

A bobcat for a pet? I mean, I've been near a bobcat before, but... Not my prime idea for a domesticated animal, you know? Though I like your choice of name.

Alright, well I'm game for a spot as one of the Nine. And if somebody else wants it... well tough luck buster, you're gonna have to pry it from my cold dead fingers! :toughninja:

Just a thought, but if we are going for a diverse group, made up of people with their own unique skill sets, perhaps we should at least throw out ideas for what kind of characters we plan on using (or prefer to use). It would svck to have everybody go off and write up a really cool character on their own, only to realize that everybody else has the exact same skills.

Pay attention, Wooly. Race isn't an issue anymore. :P

Good idea, Ezequiel. I'm currently waffling between two main ideas (though I've got a couple more in reserve).... given the current characters that have been thrown out there by others, I'll probably go with #2.

1: A Bosmer escape artist. He'd be a street performer, probably with impressive acrobatic skills. His claim to fame is the ability to get out of anything, contortionist abilities, and a strict perfectionism. He'd have some experience with hand-to-hand, and his fighting style would be heavily agility based.

2: A Dunmer Dwemer scholar... perhaps Telvanni or Hlaalu, or maybe without a Great House. He'd be good at seeing how things work, invention, and creating things out of unlikely materials (think of the coconut radio from Gilligan's Island). I haven't nailed his personality quite yet; I'm thinking he'd be introverted, but very curious. And he'd probably have a good deal of experience with smuggling, given that his passion is rather illegal in Morrowind. I was thinking of having him with some sort of Dwemer centurion"pet"... but that might tread on Elite Birthday's toes too much.

No better then a domesticated elephant? Huh, is that what you want, Ambrose? A elephant walking aroun--wait do elephants grant wishes?

Anyways, yes. Good work Ezequiel! Yeah, everyone should put a basis on what their character is. I know korroded had put some ideas down, Sparrow is right above this post, and mine is up there somewhere. That's all I know that has done anything.

Gold team rules.

I guess it might help if I listed my character ideas as well... :slap: Anyway, I have a couple of guys who would fit in well. I have a merc I really like that I've been trying to fit into an RP somewhere. He's kind of a fusion between a tracker/hunter/bushman and a warrior (although slanted more towards sneaky, agile fighting rather than straight forward brawling). Personality-wise, he's a curmudgeon, slightly morbid, and coldly calculating. He does have some semblance of honor and chivalry buried somewhere inside him... you just have to dig a bit to find it.

I have a backlog of characters who are pretty varied that I could draw from as well (I wouldn't mind pulling Li'Yen, my Khajiit forgery expert/general thief out of retirement). And I could always come up with something brand new as well, but as of right now, that is mainly what I'm focusing on. But I am pretty open.

Except for mages. I hate mages...

Name: Minhk (Meenk), but prefers to be called 'Kim'
Gender: Male
Race: Argonian
Age: 17

Physical Description: Kim is a late bloomer, so most of his muscles are now starting to sprout. He's an incredibly thin lizard-boy, mainly due to him always hefting heavy objects and crates full of supplies. When he was young, his scales used to be a dark reddish color, but when he reached 15, his scales shedded. His new scales vary from Orange, green, red and a little bit of black. His eyes are a deep blue, with small distinct traces of green.
Personalty: Energetic and happy. He is always eager to learn more about the world, and has a annoying sense of curiosity due to his strong sense of smell. Some say it would need to his downfall, but it has actually saved his life many times. Kim respects those who are older then him, living by a saying; ''Your not going to earn respect, until you give it''

Skills: Over the years, Kim has become a superb cook. He enjoys cooking meals for himself and his partner (Read Bio to understand), and needless to say, other people enjoy his food. In his spare time, Kim practices Fencing and Archery with a Scimitar that was given to him by a Legionnaire soldier as a souvenir. He has become somewhat of a Journeymen of Blade-related skills, although keeps practicing to better himself. He has also found out that he has unnatural acute senses, which he uses to his advantage to keep look for wild animals and/or Bandits. When something big is going to happen, Kim gets gut feelings and vibes beforehand. Usually a strange vibration sensation in the back of his skull, or a cramp in his gut.
Minor Skills: Can tie and untie knots very well. Thinks before he speaks. Recently found out he's a good chiropractor. Good at Running, Jumping, and Climbing. He is also a fairly good drawer, well, at least in doodle standards. Kim is also very talented on playing guitar, he was tuaght by Whitey on how to play, and really enjoys playing.
Weaknesses: When offended or sad, he bottles up his emotions, which can lead to random bursts of aggression. Cannot do math or ride a horse to save his life. More susceptible to getting drunk. (One to two beers and he's out like a candle)
Hobbies: As mentioned before, Kim likes to fence in his spare time, if he can't do that, he reads or tinkers with things he finds. Or if he has enough spare time, he'll doodle in a notebook or play guitar.

Clothing: Wear a stitched-green shirt most of the time, with a chainmail vest over it. He also wears chainmail gloves with half finger-sleeves, he claims it gives him better grip on unloading boxes from his caravan. For pants, he goes with Dark leather greaves, outfitted with Leather steel-toed boots.
Weapon(s): Steel Scimitar, steel-toed plating on his boots.
Misc: Carries a tan-leather backpack filled with all sorts of shtuff. Books, food, gold, maps, a whetstone, notebook, ink & quill, you name it. Wears a leather-band necklace with a green ruby on it, Carved on the ruby, is a dragon-like symbol (Think something like http://www.freewebs.com/tquinphoenix/Dragon%20Symbol.jpg). He keeps it with him all the time, and treats it like a prized possession.

Short Bio: His parents were killed by Bandits during a raid on a village on the border of Cyrodiil and High Rock, he was one of the only survivors found by a traveling Merchant convoy. Raised as a Merchant Trader, Kim spent three-quarters of his life traveling Tamriel, being chased by Bandits, and nearly mauled by creatures he didn't even know existed. He thinks he is quite an adventurer. Kim travel's with his partner, an old Imperial man who can speak any language known to trading standards. He goes by the name of 'Ol' Whitey', and has been in Kim's life since the beginning, he has also gotten the young Argonian out of a lot of trouble.

Here's my CS. I will undoubtedly revise it, but heres it in it's beginning stages. I fell in love with the name 'Kim' ever since I started playing Gears of war. Minh Young Kim ftw! :3

My character specializes in acute senses and energy, although, has a few weaknesses.

Good idea :) Although to be honest I doubt Thalia's sheet is going to step on anyone's toes. I hope!

I don't have enough time to post a full sheet now, but here's a brief overview:

An orc Illusionist called Thalia. She's ugly. Face like someone took an axe to it... repeatedly. Her eyes are quite pretty, but generally do little to make her look attractive - hard to look past the green lump, really.

Her main skill would be in illusion and psychology - that is, she understands the way the mind generally works and utilises that. She definitely can't read minds, though, and she's far from perfect - for all her technical skill, she pretty much lacks social skills. Definite foot-in-mouth syndrome here.

She doesn't know any magic except her illusion spells. She has some small skill with a dagger, but she hates using it - she's squeamish. She can tolerate blood, maybe, as long as none of it gets on her robes. She hates her clothes being crumpled, or being sweaty, or being all covered in blood; Sheogorath, do you have any idea how long it takes to get blood out of my robes? She doesn't like bugs, much, either. So if this suddenly turns cross-country, expect her to be a little... twitchy. :P

Oh, yeah, and she used to have a pet rock called Happy. He was a grumpy little blighter.

Hopefully she's okay? If anyone's concerned about anything mention it and I'll change it when I do the proper sheet.

I'm noticing that a lot of these concepts are mind based (creativity, psychology) or based on agility. Therefore, there seems to be a bit of a gap of sheer brute strength to fill. If no one else submits a fighter, I've got another character concept I could flesh out, for variety's sake.

A Dunmer ex-ordinator. He'd be a grizzled old veteran whose primary strengths would be in his battle experience, devotion to protecting his group, and his sheer skill with a mace. He'd know the ins and outs of Imperial law, particularly where it pertains to Morrowind, and would probably be pretty aware of protocol and rankings, so probably be pretty good as a diplomat. That said, his House would have been weakened hugely, the Tribunal Temple would have fallen apart, and his homeland would be at war with both Black Marsh and the Imperials... ergo, he'd probably be fairly depressed and bitter, lamenting the "good old days" when Morrowind was on top of the world.

Come to think of it, I think this is the one I'll make, since there's not much overlap with other characters.

Well if its combat classes the "Warriors" of the nine need then im more than willing to make a combat class character

one ive been dying to try again for years is one that any of u in the early stages of End of an Era might remember, i giant of an Argonian called Vistha, altho i would need comfirmation from at least jerod to go ahead with him as from appearance some people might call him "against lore" or "uber" but i can asure you the way i play him is definatly not, and if his height were a problem i might be persuaded to shink him, when i first used him i compared him to a Deadroth in build but with a much smaller head.

heres a picture that i drew then photoshopped badly http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t244/klown-korpse/My%20Art/Omo.jpg

and i might need u to ignore the huge swords on his back as i prefer him to use things he finds on the battlefeild rather than his own weapons. and i might note he is incredibly slow both in action and reaction times as well as thought patterns so thats his big disadvantage. and he would be more of an endurance fighter than a strength fighter.

tell me your thoughts and if its a no i wont push it.

Think I'll be using my bit-of-an-oddball character Felton de Iberville (since we seem to have quite a few warriors already). He's somewhat skilled in infiltration and disguises, at least an average swordsman and with some knowledge in various areas, random fairly worthless things like Ashlander poetry and Bretic etiquette. Well-read, slightly melancholic gentleman sort, a tad shy too. He's like 'heart', has no worthwhile 'special powers' but you have him anyway. In the way of personality quirks, he tends to swiftly turn into an alcoholic when depressed, he randomly stay up at some nights and has a big thing against nobles. Also likes expensive stuff, particularly swords, and hates people who tell him he can't wear mishmashes of random clothes from various cultures because it's unfashionable.

If I can make a character, could he be an ordinary guy just wanting to tag along? I imagine he can live in the village the RP starts at, yes?

I won't make him a peasant with no skills at all, but I figured it'd be a nice change. :)

Big, and scary 0.0

Give me some insight on him; Where is he from, What does he do, What skills does he have, and We''l go from there.

And just go ahead and post our character sheets here. And Chriso, thats fine :) We'll need fans :P

My Character for one of the nine warriors. A monster slayer and tracker. Sorta experimenting and yeah, the class name I got from a game. Sorta suits the character :D

Name: Zathran
Age: 32
Race: Khajiit Cathay-raht
Gender: Male

Class: Witcher
Class Description: Witchers are professional monster slayers, hired for coin to slay any sort of monster from simple ghosts and undead to more fearsome creatures such as werewolves. Often specializing in swords and other weapons many also opt for alchemy and a form of magical art to help back their abilities and destroy the creatures, or people if need be.
Skills: Zathran has become quite adept at the use of a Bastard sword and the smaller Katana. However his real art is tracking, Zathran is very capable at tracking down nearly any foe in almost any environment, to couple with it Zathran has some skill with Alchemy and Monster Lore.
Minor Skills: To augment his skills abit better as well as making it easier to traverse alyeid ruins Zathran has studied enchantments to a degree, close combat and hafted weapons such as axes or halberds are also in his training.

Equipment:
Weapon: A designed silver Bastard sword which has ancient runes engraved down the blade, it is strapped to his back a black hilted katana on his right side and a small steel dagger in his boot.
Armour: Medium Leather armour with plate steel situated in pockets within certain points along the armour as well as a bandoleer that contains a few small potent potions.
Misc: A special whetstone for his silver sword and a normal whetstone for his katana, small alchemical pouch, distilled alcohol

Appearance:
Height: 6ft 2in
Weight: 97 kg
Eye Colour: Green
Fur Colour: Panther Black
Scars/Tattoos: He bears a tattoo on his right arm which goes from his wrist to the middle section of his lower arm. A White furred scar over his left eye.

Personality: Zathran is somewhat of a neutral biding man, following his own codes of morals in judgment. Respect from him comes from when he has fought beside someone, for he is able to then see what they truly are inside, before that it is rare for him to fully trust or show some respect to another past basic principles. Many also call him a very 'active' feline particularly in terms of when he is in town, often seeking out a plaything.

Background: Zathran was born near Dune on a small farm, his father was a simple farmer much like his mother. Though she was also a follower of Dibella. The area around their farm was a quite little spot, sitting near a large oasis where they farmed exotic sort of foods, wheat, vegetables and anything else that was hardy. They made a great living for the most part. Zathran at the time was named Vashir, he was a very boisterous youngster who loved to play and do anything that got him or others laughing or cause mischief. Unfortunately this was to come to an end, one fateful evening when the moons were at their highest a large pride of werelions hit the farm, killing any who was there. Zathran was only six when this occurred and was found by a Monster slayer, clinging to his dieing mother. She had been viciously mauled by the Prides alpha, while the cub for some reason was spared for the most part. The slayer ended the agony of the woman, taking the only survivor and witness of the massacre. It changed the lad, from being open and playful he became reserved and quiet. The Slayer, a High Elf named Sindarion, took pity on the lad and instead of sending him to an orphanage trained the boy in the ways of the Slayer. Vashir's name changed to Zathran, over the years he began to open up, but was still haunted by nightmares of that bloody night.

He roams the land, hunting the Pride, especially the Alpha of the pride, Scarface as he calls the male. Who had a very large scar on its face, like as if someone had dragged claws across it.

Your alright there, Sibera.

Also, I re-did the storyline;

Twenties years after the Oblivion Crisis, the Empire elects Imperial General Victor Von Xanten, an aged but intelligent and experienced man, to lead Cyrodiil in the right direction. For a short while, things are nearing back to the way they used to be. Roads are being re-built, homes being repaired. Although, the Oblivion crisis brought a terrible economical side-effect with it. Citizens are forced to abandon their jobs, and trade their homes for small wooden shacks. An Agricultural era begins in sprouts in Cyrodiil. Due to the countries vast farmlands, many towns and villages are created.

But it does not end there. Many raids and attacks are being conducted by a tribe of viscous creature-like men, nicknamed the 'Carvers', due to their tendencies of carving unrecognized symbols on wood, stone, houses and dead victims. It is also reported that the Carvers take the heads of the dead. The Imperial Legion is incapable of protecting Villages and towns, and so Citizens have formed their own military, the rich hire Mercenaries, while the poor train and fight themselves.

There is rumor of an Old Altmer Women, traveling about, seeking Nine adventurers to fulfill a one-thousand year-old prophecy. Even the most well-noted historians have never heard of this Prophecy predicting this new Crisis. All they know is that she is searching for Nine heroes, and will not stop at anything to find them.
---

I think it's a bit better. I changed the King/Generals name, I think it sounds better.
