Does anyone else have a problem with the fact that your character is the only one that ever seems to do his job?

It would make for a boring SP game if you watched someone else saving the day. Lots of people complained about just being Martin Septims errand boy in the Oblivion MQ.

The rate it's going, we're still running errands. All I hear is Ulfric this, Tullius that.

Honestly, I really liked that about Oblivion. The player character was remembered as a hero, but wasn't the hero.

I'd rather not have a main hero quest. Just different ways of making your mark on the world.. especially through guilds/factions. Maybe there could be an overarching story, but the meat of the game could just be playing a thief, as a whole world unto itself. And even then, one could be a thief in different ways (mafia/underworld type or a robin hood). You could still do that with your imagination, but it'd be nice if your actions affected the game with those choices.

Also, there's something about "main quests" that make me feel rushed. The actual charm of TES games is exploration, smelling the flowers or whatnot. I resent being rushed. Damn oblivion gates. Damn dragons. Just piss off. I'm chopping wood right now.
