Was anyone else disappointed that you couldn't rob a casino?

Post » Mon May 24, 2010 2:46 am

I felt like this would've been the perfect time for the developers to go crazy, and make a really memorable mission, like the Three Leaf Clover mission in GTAIV.. Breaking into a casino's underground vault would have been awesome. All we can hope for is some sort of DLC, but it probably won't happen.

I confess, the Strip was surprisingly small.

I wish they'd gotten rid of Freeside and instead just kept Westside (or vice versa) then moved the Kings to the Strip.

We needed stores and other stuff on the Strip too.

Edit:

But to relate to your point, Saints Row 2 (despite its many flaws), had an advantage over it. "Why don't we simply shoot up the casino and grab the cash?"

Good call, Johnny.

Are you kidding me? With a Luck of 7+ you're pretty much robbing casinos

Yeah, doing an Oceans 11 style quest was an opportunity that should have been taken...

As Colonel said, with decent Luck robbing by conventional means is a bit unnecessary. I am a bit annoyed that you're absolutely barred from a casino after winning big though. I mean, would it of been so hard to make the ban temporary instead of for the rest of the friggen game? I enjoy my blackjack thank you very much...

if you've got enough money to get into the Strip, then you don't NEED to rob a casino. lol. What are you going to do with your millions, buy a lakefront apartment? Jet off to Mexico for a vacation? get a fast sportscar?

Yeah, F;NV lacked the freedom of Fallout 3. In F3 you could pretty much kill anything to get what they had (with some exceptions) It's kinda lame that you cant go psycho on a casino... raid their cashiers desk the very least and blast through a dozen guards and even more securitrons and escape with 100,000 caps.

Personally, I see no real value in an Oceans 11 style heist, let alone a GTA/Saints Row 2 style casino heist. Besides, that crap is so overdone. I found the quests on The Strip to be unique because they all pertained to each of the Families in some way shape or form.

the Sierra Madre was a casino, and the objective was to rob it, heist-style... if you don't have it, i suggest buying Dead Money. I thought it was awesome.

It's the wrong game. The problem with these 'open world' games is they give you the illusion that you should be able to do anything. The better the game the better the illusion - but you have to draw a line somewhere - and I guess they did that with high luck gambling.

The thing that got me the most was the flight simulators. I want to fly!!!! :brokencomputer:

I have the money, so yes I will hire people to do all of that.

What's stopping you robbing a casino? I've robbed two of them, once stealthily, the other going in all guns blazing.

Well, I say stealthily, they all still died.

And doesn't everyone rob the one in Prim?

Actually NV has only one npc you can't kill and you can go psycho on a casino. I did it the other day in Gomorrah with a hunting shotgun and whatever I could loot off corpses. It was the most fun I ever had playing this game. I will concede however that it is lame that we cannot make off with 100 grand in caps from their vault or cashier room.

Errr... nothing is stopping you to do that. Go in, gun them all down and steal everything of value.

That mission in gta4 was epic but in fonv it would be *the courier walks in .The courier walks out with a bazillion caps and a bag of corpses.

I was VERY disappointed that they did not use the opportunity to add in a quest like this. Dead Money was somewhat similar, but not quite what I was expecting. I wanted something more like this: you assemble a capable team, develop an elaborate plan, and then act it out, with lots of sneaking around, and doing special animations (like crank open a Vault, for example). Before it came out, I was certain that I'd get a mission like this.

Or, one better. Kill House and install Yes Man.

You didn't just steal a casino, you stole the Las Vegas strip. Robbing casinos is small time.

Besides, I've already robbed them all of around 10k caps each ;) And I make a pretty good living robbing vendors.

"I'd like to buy your broken down Ballistic Fist and those good-condition brass knuckles." duct tape sounds "I'd like to sell you this very good condition Ballistic Fist."

At this point, I've probably got enough caps to swim in ... In fact, I might just do that. Drop them 1 by 1 into a bathtub.

Yeah, I wish they'd used Poker instead of Caravan.

I like Poker.

Likewise, Dead Money could have been better with a LOT of changes in my mind.

The "Heist of the Century" seems to be a small thing since instead of hacking the vault or anything, you have them tap wires and set off fireworks.

I wish I could start running the Lucky 38 after I kill Mr. House. That and I think the Strip should be way, way busier.

And I wish drinking had obvious vision, conversing and talking issues.

I don't think a quest to rob a casino was necessary.
