I think they should add at least one auto-targetting spell like Magic Missile. My dual-anolog accuracy isn't very good for long range spellcasting :P

Lock-on spell system.
"Dragonborn, calling Esbern, over."
"This is Esbern, I read you dragonborn"
"Hostile draudr detected, over"
"Roger that you are clear to engage"

I'm sorry if I came off as harsh, but I don't want the Devs to even waste time implementing the very option. Hell, if you can't aim, just hold the button down to spray 'em.

I'm not being hostile. This would make magic, my favorite combat option, absolutely horrible. And if you read his OP, he said the "Oblivion series"

Hmm...

seemingly implying that the OP's not regular human being seems hostile to me. And yes I did read the OP. But what
Do I know, its half eleven where I am.

I don't agree with you, i'd rather aim my own spells, but i respect your opinion and your right to express that opinion, don't take these forums seriously, there are flames for all here if anyone gets out of line even accidently, don't let it get to ya :)

While I sinisterly hope there will be nothing of the likes of this ever in a TES game, they do have other spells that don't require good (?) aim. Such as the trap spells you lay on the floor, the awesome :flamethrower: , and AOE spells are in as well. Lots of options for the up close and personal mage if aiming isn't your thing.:hubbahubba:

EDIT: And actually there is one thing that doesn't require aiming but its a shout. Storm call auto hits targets.

well what I meant is at least have a sticky targeting system where you can select the target and stay on target while moving, etc. spells dont have to auto-hit each time, i guess its more the targeting i was referring to.

So what you want is an auto-targeting system? Well, you're in luck. There will be a soft auto-lock system being referred to as "magnetism." Personally I hope I can turn it off.

If you didn't have to aim when casting spells that would also mean you aren't able to dodge when enemy npcs, lets say necromancers, aim a destructive spell at you. In games this really, and I mean really PEEVED me, not being able to dodge spells or spells being "magically" homed on to you. Yes thank God Bethesda does not listen to people like you.

Sounds good.

(Also sounds like the improvement to TPP combat)

I am watching the video with draugrs and there is totally auto-aim with the lightning spell.

Edit: Yeah, it is chain lightning. I have been told.

The magnetism feature is only active when there are a bunch of companions in the way, and it's still very slight. Also, it's only been confirmed to work on melee weapons/bows, no confirmation on magic yet.

FFS ive been up since 5am and made a mistake..geez..im sure there are things you dont like about the game, perhaps some things that have been changed like the perks, etc its just a suggestion/wishlist/option that's all. Im not bashing the game, im going to pre-order it and cant wait to play it like ive played it since Morrowind (did I get that right?) and almost every other game Bethesda has created.

Todd did say in one of the interviews that that was the chain lighting spell and that it bounced off enemies and surfaces.

an option for us noobs who cant aim

See this is the problem. Instead of improving yourself, you expect the game to work for you. That's where the game ceases to be challenging or fun.

just saw the latest vids from E3 and that was my major peeve with all the oblivion series..that you have to aim spells and looks like you still need to.

Oh well..game looks amazing otherwise...cant wait!

Rofl....Oblivion Series....It is called The Elder Scrolls....sorry but I had to say it.

honestly I don't see an issue with this IF it is an option and it is, by default, turned off. If someone's argument is because of difficulty then by all means they should be allowed to change that for their gaming pleasure. I still stand by my opinion that I don't like the idea of auto locked spells or attacks of any kind but I don't mind it being an option that can be changed considering it doesn't effect anyone else who doesn't want to use that option.
