Was oblivion made to be played Online?

I was just wondering if oblivion was made to be played online because of the skills that you can get. Such as heal target since there is no one else to play with who are you going to heal your minion ? what about making heal AoE im sure oblivion was planning on making the game able to play online such as two worlds or something. whats your guys opinions ?

No they had no itention of making a online game, the target heal spell is for you to save a quest npc when doing a quest or healing your minion,..many more ways to use..

There are many cases where this is untrue, such as followers from completing guilds, allies in Oblivion gates, high level summons that came from scrolls...

No, this game was not meant to be online, and I think it would have been terrible if Bethesda had done that. I really hope they don't go in that direction.

Before I go into the first oblivion gate I make sure to have a heal other spell if I have Restoration.. there is one guy in there who is difficult to save and can help you lots.

No. Healing, and AoE buffs/heals are meant for your allies.

Daggerfall was originally designed with the idea of making it an online game but neither Morrowind or Oblvion (or Arena for that matter!) was designed for any kind of shared play.

I think the question has been answered and this would seem to be possibly going the route of "TES MMO would be awesome/would not" - in which case head on over to the TES General section to the online discussion there.
