So I was Right about the mods. They'r gamebreaking.

Post » Mon Feb 24, 2014 5:14 am

More and more clips are turning up on the Youtube showing worse and worse cases of MODS. We are not talking about Light UI-alteration, rather total and compelte remakes of the whole UI concept.

THIS ALL SHOWS I WAS RIGHT AND ALL MODHEADS WERE WRONG. WHATS COMMING IS EVEN MUCH WORSE THAN I EXPECTED.

We can see flying combatlog with attack number, damage numbers, what skills the opponent is using, INTERRUPTION WARNINGS, Buff timers, Debuff timers, what armor stats the oppenen has, dps meter, and alot more on the same time!!!

The whole screen looks more like something from ROBOCOP than something from a fantasy game. All this crappola and the game hanst even lanuched yet.

How will we who dont like these mods be sure of that NOONE EVER will claim us to use the [censored]!?

I wonder how the devs will make sure of that I will NEVER EVER BE FORCED TO DOWNLOAD SOME HOMEMADE CRAP IN ORDER TO FULLY ENJOY THIS GAME? PLEASE ANSWER THAT? i WANT TO KNOW BEFORE I GO BUY THE GAME!

AND HOW WILL YOU MAKE SURE THE HOMEMADE MODDERS DONT CHEAT? ARE YOU GOING TO INVESTIGATE EVERY MOD THAT PPL USE?

ZOS could do a library where each mod has to be certified by ZOS internal before you can apply it to the game client.

ZOS cant investigate EVERY mod comming, too much worktime will go to checking mods instead of creating new content.

I think Zenimax is making a bad decision but if they do accept certain mods, I'd only like them to be made by them but even that's pushing it too far.

Well...some addons are helpful.

I mean, some people get annoyed with the map closing when moving, or the quest menu, or just want to adapt their UI with a nice little design that imerses them more.

I have nothing against these things as they could very well help the game in regards to the individual.

The problems with addons, comes to those that are not personal addons.

Addons that check on anotherplayers stats, gear, or buffs/debuffs.....these are just wrong & change the game in a number of ways.

So..in short, addons are not universally the big bad. But some should be kept well away from Eso.

As in all Elder Scroll games, mod are completely optional. You control what you download and how you wish you play. None on the Mod can cause you to have fast reflexes and experience. As a past PvP gladiator...back before it became a joke...I can tell you that no UI can make you a PvP god. Pure skill makes all the difference.

Stuff like armour and resistances really shouldn't be possible to show, given these things are difficult or impossible to tell normally and their obscurity is often leveraged as an element of "surprise".

Stuff like buff/debuff timers, cast bars and such are fine IMO. The lack of the former is annoying as a group supporter and the latter is already telegraphed anyway, if you're paying attention you can see it.

Other than that I don't see why you care if someone "ruins" their own UI. It's not like they're ruining yours.

Why should some players get to play in easy mod with HUDs telling them location, warnings, incomming attacks, opponent armor stats, while others have to really learn all this bythemselves?

Its uttlery crappola to give some players a milk run while others go hardschool

If a player uses mods that can look at me and what I am wearing and doing in combat I will not be playing this game.

I am sure people that share my view of this are in the thousands...

Mods do not ruin the game for people that does not use em.

Mods are not OP, they just show how much damage you make ie, and you do not have to guess it.

All in all some like em some do not, no need to cry about em.

MMO without mods would be a joke as there would be so many clueless people around that they would frustrate with their builds and combat that they would just simply quit. And again, some use em some dont and it does not harm anyone.

@Bloodlance, it depends what kind of mods we're talking about. So if you think someone modded in a weapon that one-hit kills anything is not OP? Or armor with the absolute best stats?

The Mods / addons are totally gamebreakling. Players that claim otherwise are those who wants to use them.

They make it possible to see what skill you channel, what armors you use, they admit hard-lock targetting, timers that keep track of buffs/debuffs, warning of attacks that can be interrrupted.

Its just too much!!!

Location is already told via the quests. Warnings can be seen or read from text, incoming attacks cannot be told via a mod, opponents armor stats are not told by a mod.

So no need to make a bull out of a fly.

If you want to learn the game the hard way then you do, but there are people who prefer to see how much damage they do in exact numbers and build on that. or they could check them from www.esohead.com so should we just somehow make that place disappear ?

ZOS needs to remove the API from the game that gives information on casting times and armour stats etc.

Only keep the mods there for mini maps, quests and player buff timers. This would stop all the mods that can be classed as cheating in pvp.

no such mods in ESO, a 100% fact.

mods in ESO are UI mods, same kind like in WoW and other MMOs.

no such mod about armor stats, one cant see hostile NPC or player items via a mod. stop spreading false info.

here is a good example of the mods atm : http://www.esoui.com/addons.php

and Castbar is only for the player, so you see your 2.5 second heavy attack as a bar. etc.
