was skyrim rushed?

Post » Tue Dec 13, 2011 5:15 am

Also, if you guys think that Skyrim was broken on launch, Daggerfall's launch had more gamebreaking glitches and problems than all of Bethesda's other game combined. When the scope for a game is so large, it's difficult to nail down every single problem that players have.

actually from what ive heard of old school fans daggerfall and arena had the worst bugs and glitches

Yeah, you're right. I knew that, and I'm not sure why I put that in the post :/

rushed without a doubt, rushed or very lazy, the quests/quest lines are terrible (NV was rushed but it was awsome when it came to quests, the world needs to look good, but spend at least a year out of all that time working on something else)

For attention ? :whistling:
Don't forget posters on this forum represent a tiny minority of the vast majority who bought the game and don't have time to troll ES forums, as they are too busy playing and enjoying it :foodndrink:

Indeed. No-one outside this forum has any problems with the game.

lack of hand to hand as a skill,no underwater combat despite that there are slaughterfish that will not hesitate to attack you, terrible voice actors when compared to those at e3,argonian males sound like humans, races sharing dragon shout voices. yep seems rushed.

I don't see how it was rushed, they started working on it around the time of FO3.

The game is finished way before it even comes out. When the trailer comes out, it's basically finished, they just have to polish it. No one should let s little bug here and there to ruin there game experience.

And if they didn't release it on 11-11-11. How many people would have thrown a tantrum over it. Because there are way too many people revolving their entire lives around a video game release. People taking days and weeks off work and complaining they have to do stuff with girlfriend or family those days, their entire universe based solely on this date. The forums IMO would have exploded with people flaming Bethesda over postponing release to fix issues. Some of us I am sure wouldn't have minded waiting though.

I am playing on PC - makes a huge difference to the reply.

No I don't think it was rushed.

Am I happy with the game, no it doesn't have the content / lastability / depth that I would like - but that is nothing to do with being rushed.

The only bugs I have encountered are:

- the steam download issue (which even though I followed the instructions on forums I couldn't avoid - so wasted 5/6 hrs of download time on release day)
- the sound issue where characters can't be heard unless you are looking about 90 degrees away from them
- Death on Ice quest bugs

All in all, for a huge game world, sandbox game that isn't that bad.

The only one that could be said to be unacceptable and possibly down to being rushed is the steam issue. That does stink a little bit of lack of preparation / testing (I suspect has cost them a lot of money in download/bandwith costs).

But in the main - no the game has been pretty stable.

NOW if I was paying £45 for a console version and encountered bugs I would have a totally different answer. The expectation on consoles is ZERO bugs. The hardware is exactly the same for all customers, so the only reason for bugs is lack of play testing. Bethesda are just technically below average when it comes to coding and bug testing. But their games are closest in content to the RPG I am looking for - so hell you take the compromise lol.

Yes, Skyrim was rushed. The release date was completely [censored] and meaningless; NO ONE CARES that it was 11.11.11. That's just dumb.

I would have happily waited another YEAR even if it would have meant that all these bugs and whatnot would have been ironed out.

I bought many other games on their release date, and never experienced any bugs with them, including Morrowind. No excuse...
