Was that the Skyrim theme?

Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim all share the same basic tune one way or another. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2H7kjsRQG-k&feature=related

So the farther away from the Morrowind theme it is, the worse it sounds...? I see. :shakehead:

And I think it was just altered for the trailer anyway, to make it more fast-paced and fitting with the overall tone.

Same. Assuming, you know, we even hear the theme as an exploration track again. It could get annoying if it starts playing in the middle of dark scary dungeons as Morrowind's used to. :P

Morrowind's theme didn't work for exploration at all.. dungeon or not. It was a grand piece that that invokes a sense of action, but isn't suited to combat, either. It should've been used solely for the title screen.

No, I just have an obsession with string stuff and would rather Skyrim follow that direction than rely heavily on brass and generic Viking drums. The more organic, medieval minstrel approach we heard in Daggerfall is still my favored approach to the music in the series, although writing MIDIs and orchestrated compositions are completely different worlds so I wouldn't ask for that much. It was just that I felt the Mark Lampert draft of the theme was a much nicer blend of that older style and the new Soule stuff.

From the snippets we've heard in the art videos I'm liking Skyrim's music quite a bit, it's just that I'm hoping the trailer music is more of a special case than what we should expect to hear for most of the game.
