In the Sounds of Skyrim video, we were introduced to another snippet of the theme, which contains the first stanza of the lyrics set to a melody chillingly similar to Morrowind's theme. As I was too lazy to dig up the Game Informer video, you can hear this first stanza http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xBSiIeu1Yg8#t=2m5s (2:05) mixed into the original trailer song. I absolutely adore the light, "dancing" feel of this portion of the theme and the lead instrument at the beginning - I believe it's a mandolin or a harpsichord, but don't take my word for it.
In the newest trailer, I noticed another iteration of the song. The brass for the "Morrowindesque" portion of the song is much more pronounced now, and even the original "Dovahkiin, Dovahkiin" stanza from the announcement trailer is now complemented by additional instruments. I adore it as I do all the other Skyrim-related melodies we've heard over the past three months, but I do really miss the instrumentation used in the older Game Informer sample we saw (again, linked above for reference). I was wondering if you guys think this is the "official" theme now, or a special movement of it to flow better with the trailer? Certainly, even the original theme, awesome though it may be, is perhaps a bit too slow to really be memorable if used on the game's menu. Any ideas?
I figured it was time for me to contribute a nitpick of my own towards our thoughts of the new trailer - which by the way Bethesda, is still absolutely amazing and I wouldnt've asked it to be any different. Keep up the good work, we really appreciate it. :goodjob:
