Beth has said that dragon fights are unscripted, but the fight in the vid looked pretty staged.

Of course it was scripted. It was the most scripted thing in the world. How can this even be a question? Did the video look like gameplay in the least bit? It most definitely was not.

@OutlanderDF Yes, in-game. Only things not in-game are the shots of the wall from the previous trailer. Dragon fights are pretty epic

Can't find it but there's another tweet somewhere saying the fights are completely dynamic and everything you see takes place during play.

I'm not convinced that this trailer is a 100% unscripted, but I think it might be that more of the trailer is unscripted than we think.

I really don't see how that dragon fight could have been taking place all with in-game dynamics. It was just too perfect.

Have to say it was pretty sweet though when you see the dude land the final blow and watch the dragon crash into the ground.

I'm not sure if this is sarcasm or not. So just to play it safe.... it is gameplay. Completely dynamic and not scripted.

Well, hell, I hope it was just really crazy camera angles and finishing moves or something like that. The movements of both the dragon and the Dragonborn are so specific that it seems like it would be a Quick-Time Event.

...but it wasn't scripted lol. I think what is confusing people is the viewpoint at which most of it is shot. Obviously you're not going to be able to position the camera that well or dramatically while trying not to get your [censored] handed to you ;)

The dragon AI was incredibly incredibly well done.

That and the fact that most people have probably not been expecting such a great improvement in animation. Bethesda was not playing around when they said they were really working on doing better because they always felt animation was there weak point.

Edit* also remember guys... There has been a small team working just on dragons for two years... It's no real surprise that they are freaking amazing.

The first part where he runs to the cliff and nearly falls up to the point of the dragon shout was scripted, but I am willing to believe the rest was unscripted.

Indeed. Nick Brenon confirmed that the dragon fight was unscripted in the trailer. I think the awesome camera angles and Music made it feel unbelieveably epic. Maybe we're just not used to Beth having great animations, but I believe those days are now over...

But.... They have said the trailer wasn't scripted. They even explicitly said the fight with the dragon was completely dynamic and not scripted.

Well, they definitly were playing with the cameras, but if the fight itself was how we will be doing things...hot damn.

Run up to a cliff edge in sprint mode, and you will react accordingly and safely. Just speculation, but probable.

The dragon fight was as unscripted as the radiant ai previews of Oblivion. So yeah. 100% scripted.

haha obviously, but it wasnt all 100% unscripted. then needed to get the camera in that angle and stuff, how would they have done it without being scripted somewhat
