Was Todd Howard too harsh on Arvel the swift? : V

Whenever I watch the demo.. I always think it was a little harsh how Arvel was killed in such a cold blooded manner.. he was no threat and was just after a few coins. But to thrust a sword into his spine like that.

When I release Arvel I will not kill him, but instead follow him to the end of the quest. If its possible, I will make him a companion.

Well, it certainly makes the demo more interesting to kill him. Though I'd like to see what happens if you don't kill Arvel for the Golden Claw and follow him instead.

Isn't this the very core of what the game offers?

You do what you want. Who cares if Todd handled something how you wouldn't. The game allows you to shove a sword through Arvel's lower lumbar or to let him runaway with the key to the dungeon for his own. Do what you want. It's the name of the game.

yes he's dumb as hell though because he gets killed by the Traps

well I didnt let him run..was low on Stam because I was running in circles around the Spider :/

When you release Arvel, he'll run straight into the draugr and get killed by the death lord at the end of that place (before the dragon priest.) So yeah, good luck keeping him alive.

yea thats what i was thinking, but he did TAUNT him and tried to pull a fast one and hes stupid enough to run away from somebody who just killed a huge f***en spider

I'm usually for mercy, like the mugger in the wasteland.... i just laught and let him go, but in this case he had it coming,

Personally, I don't like the sword approach. I would have fireballed him.

But, yeah, he got what he deserved.

If you didn't like the way Todd did it, then deal with it differently when you play

I plan on seeing just how far Arvel gets on his own. After all, he needs the key to open the door. I'd be surprised if Arvel solved the puzzle himself. Eventually, though, regardless, Arvel is going to die, whether it's at the hands of a monster or mine. He has a journal on him and I want to read it.
