Well then, let me fill you in on what the developers have said on the subject: Final Ending planned and deliberate, BS Not. Gonna. Happen.

Definitive endings are for movies not games, just my opinion.

Nope, I have no interest in increasing the level cap or becoming god of the mojave, but since my character survives the onslaught I would at least like the choice to continue my RP, fortunately PC and mods FTW.

Since when? I'm pretty sure games with endings outnumber those without more than 100 to 1.

Obsidian gave their reason for the definite ending, and it was pretty much as good as reasons get.

There are 4 different endings, plus many ways to complete the many quests.

So Obsidian would have to make an ungodly amount of dlcs.

Allowing the player to continue playing and have the game react properly to the events at the end would be a non-trivial thing. Anybody who says that this would be an easy thing to add haven't really considered how bizarre it would be to keep playing the game and have it not respond to the events of the ending. Entire factions would disappear, cities and towns would change ownership, a significant fraction of the locations on the map would cease to have any reason for existing.

I don't see this as the developers cutting corners, rather, the developers preserving their sanity.

An add-on? [censored] no. I don't want some [censored] "LOL U POYZUN WARTRE, 5 PEEPEL SEECK" kind of thing like Broken Steel.

If they are going to add post-end game content, I want it to be an amazing, lengthy, and fleshed-out expansion that continues the main quest for all major factions and includes tons of content, lore, etc. Definitely not something like BS. Although, I would be perfectly okay with no post-end game content.

99.9% of video games END when you beat them. WHY is Fallout being no different such a surprise to anyone.

Probably because a lot of people playing this game haven't played the originals and expect something similar to a Bethesda game.

And yes, I know you could play after the main quest in Fallout 2, but I hear it's only for a short time and it's only if you do things in a specific way.

Most people think that RPG=No ending.

Yeah, that's silly considering almost every RPG ends.

Yep, and with NV at least all factions have some game time and areas have multi layer resolutions more so than FO3.
Which leads to good endings and as there is less quirky fun stuff to see when exploring than FO3, performing the quests to get a feel for the plot becomes more important imo.

It made me sad also, but because it had a definate ending, I could break out all the stuff I was saving up like the fatman, and the c4 explosives (sneaked into legion camp and put them everywhere) also broke out avenger and mery, it was awsome. And I took so many chems I got the addicted challange right there, and turbo was so awsome during that fight, I would use it and blow of three peoples heads, before they can respond.

I can live with the game ending (and I don’t know and don’t wanna know of you die or not) but I do not wanna start a new character just for the dlc.

Looks like I’ll be keeping a save around…

Yea, I really hope the add ons aren't some BS short ones. Hell I could see a whole other region the courier roams to work out. "The Courier delivering things state to state!" cheezy but lots of possibilities. It's really hard to predict what they have in store for us, unless I missed something of course.

Probably because no one wants it to since it was so fun! but you are totally right, plenty of games have an ending (maybe not as good games?).

-Sigh- This crap again. I guess I'm the only one that can still use the Search function.

I'm tired of saying the long version.

Short version: Definitive ending, unless Obsidian caves and makes the mistake of making a DLC like BS, the endings mean something. It wouldnt make sense to have slides saying 10 years down the road, Goodsprings prospers into beauty and trading if after the slides, you just go through and massacre the town.

Don't post just to add that. It's spam. If you don't like seeing these threads please do ignore them. It's an important feature to some as you can see by the number of threads we have on them. Let folks say it and just leave it alone.

Why do folks have a need to stop and post their disagreement or their amazement? Do you know how fast this would fall off the first page with no disagreements and no spam???

This will not (Probably not anyways) happen, The ending sliders would be pointless just like FO3 if they continued it.

I never understand this complaint. Most RPG games tell a story and have an ending. Open-ended games like Bethesda develops are not the norm. And in addition, Obsidian was quite clear about what story they were telling and that it had an ending. I was fine with FO3 having an ending as well, although I happily played beyond it with the DLC when it came out, but it didn't bother me.

It's normal to feel sad at the end of a good story :) That doesn't mean it should have no end.

Despite being a very pro-Bethesda individual who likes how they handle games more than any other company, I must agree.
