Washington, DC as DLC? :)

Post » Sat Nov 28, 2015 6:50 am

I was talking with a couple friends with an idea I had:

I think it would be cool if Bethesda recreated the Washington, DC area (from FO3) using the new engine, like in a future DLC or something.

Anyone else think this might be a cool idea? Well I'd pay for it, at any rate. Quests and all, I'd love for the ability to travel down to DC. I realize the current dog (is it Dogmeat?) is a faithful companion, and maybe the FO3 Dogmeat might have to be written out of the script in DC.

The timeline of FO4 is approximately the same as FO3, so a lot of the same characters could be reused.

anyway... what do you all think?

I'd rather see them design new locations for us to visit instead of redoing previous games. if I feel the urge to go back to the Capitol wasteland I'll just fire up Fallout 3.

This. There's a multitude of other areas that can be covered in dlc.

I'd rather not. We've been exploring DC for almost a decade. Time for a change of scenery!

No, not in FO4 or any of its DLC, however, I would be happy to go back in a future FO game.

Na, I prefer new areas, plus I doubt Beth want to do it, I suspect they want to avoid canonise events from Fallout 3, which they would need to do extensively if a DLC was set in DC.

Was this a TTW based inspiration?

Regardless, what would be the point of revisiting DC? Especially since the F03 events are likely concurrently happening in the FO4 timeframe? Besides there are other parts of the mainland USA, it's territories and the world a large. I'd be more interested to see how mainland China or England/continental Europe, Africa, heck even the Aussies are faring from fallout. Everything in the franchise to date has been focused on vault/wasteland culture in the US. Would be nice to get a glimpse on how other countries like Canada fared in the fallout.

I have no idea what TTW is, so I'll have to say "no". I just loved the FO3 world (I wasn't too keen on New Vegas) and would love to see it in the new engine.

[Edit, I just did some googling, and I assume you mean "Tale of Two Wastelands"? If so, I am going to have to check that out!! Thank you!! :) ]

Tell you what. You pay me 40 dollars, and I'll send you a copy of Fallout 3 a year after Fallout 4 comes out. Then you can pretend you got a huge expansion pack for Fallout 4.

Order Fallout 4 on the Xbox One? BAM! Washington D.C. DLC in the form of Fallout 3.

Why waste a DLC on a game we already own? I've already got two copies of the dang thing already and I'm getting a third with Fallout 4. I don't need a fourth in the form of a DLC.

I would only like to see it if it showed us big changes to the area after the events of Fallout 3. If that isn't the case then I wouldn't want to play it. Mods are already there on PC to improve graphics and gameplay.

Plus with the new weapons, crafting and graphics they'd have to completely redo FO3 (and probably their DLC) and then voice the PC for all their interactions...so no. The sheer cost would make it insane.

You've summarized my thoughts exactly. I'd much rather see Salem as a DLC (and it'd make more sense) rather than the Capitol Wasteland.

And in my head-canon, my Lone Wanderer would probably wonder who the hell this Vault 111 guy is and if he's bringing the problems of the Commonwealth in with him. She'd still sympathize with the whole missing family thing and offer him a few of her supplies.

I don't think it's a bad idea if the DLC goes the route of FO3 save imports, and explore the effects of what we did in FO3. As well as having new quests etc.

I wouldn't want to be replaying FO3 in FO4 engine, but having new content that might be relevant to FO4. Off the top of my head, maybe something like: setting up a settlement in D.C. for androids that you've helped escape from the institute.

Classic! :foodndrink:

No. I do not want them to revisit anywhere on a scale the size of a DLC. A lot of players, myself included, are replaying FO3 now and I am DC'd to death.

I don't think I would like to see the Capital Wasteland again as an extension of Fallout 4.

On the other hand, I'd love to see the entire Fallout franchise redone using the Fallout 4 Creation Engine, the new Power Armor as it should be, crafting, etc.

The FEV virus propaganda from The Master was all about homogeneity, or about making everyone the same, with no differences, a "Master" race per se.

Remaking Fallout 1, 2, and 3 using the Fallout 4 platform would conform to the FEV philosophy, and, as lovely as the previous versions are in their original format, we'd then have the opportunity to see them an entirely new way with new functionality; Super Mutant versions of their former incarnations. :)

It could be a 20th Anniversary FEV set, or, if such a thing was developed in tandem with Fallout 5, then it could be a 25th Anniversay FEV edition where the core versions are the same engine as whatever the latest generation is at the time.

I've floated the idea before, but, met the old "waste of time and money" argument in favor of "new" or "different".

Eh.

Ah well.

That would be really cool.

Not megaton but a huge battle over the capitol would be sweet. You join one side and try and turn the tide.

Im talking hundreds of warriors on the field, trenches, buildings, artillery

If I were a millionaire, I would hire the TTW team to remake FO 1,2,3,an NV on the G.E.C.K. that will be released next year.

Getting NV to working alongside FO3 is an achievement no doubt, however, that is a different matter all together than making a whole "new" game.
