Ya mean like if Gandalf whispered to a moth to go get the Eagles to fly Frodo to Mount Doom? /chaos.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':chaos:' />

They were going to make an original, they started it and it died, it was disappointing i would have loved to have seen an original, also a missed opportunity in War of the Worlds was the aliens, didnt kill Tom Cruise, then stomp on he's remains.

As much as i prefer films to stick to the original stories, Starship Troopers as a film would be pretty boring, overpowered humans in power armoured exo skeletons massacre everything with portable nuke launchers oh and their fascists.

The real question is-is Palpatine force powers limited in range? I know he's powerful but he can't be that powerful----he'd be a god with that kind of force power to conrol the entire galaxy.

I think it's more insidious () than that, like more appealing to the darkness already in people and vaguely 'suggesting' that he isn't the sith lord rather than actually mind controlling people.

He is supposedly a master at manipulating and concealing the force. So I think it is a bit of both that and his power that helps him control the galaxy. Also he is the one who actually started the rebellion, so I guess that works against him.

This is true, however he was also trying to resist the temptation(I don't think he was sure himself that he was really resisting Palpatine rather than turning). Though you can say the events on Tatuween(sp?) was the point of no return, no one on the council except for maybe Yoda, trusted him. And Obi-Wan should have known better. And he was trying to get help, but he wasn't taken seriously by none except Yoda, but it was too late already. I'm a bit selfish, admittedly when it comes to the "new" trilogy. I preferred that Anakin was not put through the fate that lead to Darth Vader, but at least in Return of the Jedi, he got major atonement/revenge and made peace with himself and his son.

That's still true... from a certain point of view.

The liar's point of view. /biggrin.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

Don't forget flame throwers, pretty awesome how none of them even have guns in the book.
Rather we get this boring movie about the mobile infantry armed with guns, that arn't mobile and just get overpowered bugs massacreing everything while getting unharmed by being sprayed with bullets.

This movie is full of stupidity. From the idea of this "police force" to the very ending of the movie.

I think the main problem is he is only actually a hero in basically the start of Revenge of the Sith, the rest of the time he doesn't really do anything for anyone else and if he does he either has his own agenda or does nothing but be an [censored] the entire time, so it isn't really that much of a shock when he turns to the dark side because he was never likable or good in the first place.

Let's not forget that genocide is fine, of course only if you are commiting it on sand people. Killing sand people children = meh. Killing other children = oh noez he killed the younglings /frown.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' /> . I can't understand that logic.

Yeah, that is a big flaw, I think Lucas wanted to make the story of Anakin's downfall so badly he made it before making the story of Anakin being a hero.

Hold on. Whatever else the flaws of the prequels, Anakin killing the sand people isn't just brushed aside. It's a pretty big step in his journey to the dark side. One of the first times we hear strains of the Imperial March is when Anakin is telling Padme about the sand people.

I think the fact he didn't suffer any consequences for killing a bunch of women and children, and Padme doesn't seem to really care that much.
