Do an interview with a developer and then present an article that supports that interview subjects views on why HIS game is going to be some much better than another studios game. Yep, not slightly biased at all, this is like asking EA to compare Dragon Age to Legend of Zelda.

Would have been more balanced to have done an interview with Fargo and one with Howard, and then present an article that allows people to make their own judgement instead of reading a dressed up fluff piece for Wasteland 2. Pcgamer going the Daily Mail route here (If you've ever read the UK's Daily Mail, you may get what I'm saying)

edit: I do like Wasteland 2, but I do really dislike the way the article was handled.

Mmm a pretty good read there and it makes me want to take a look at Wasteland 2 to see what some the differences between two are :)

Wait until it gets patched up again. They just put out the Directors Cut version.. The DC version runs on unity 5 and the graphics have been upgraded, everything looks nicer but a lot of the old bugs have resurfaced and some pretty large new bugs as well. (like any companion you pick up and then dismiss disappears from the game entirely.) It's a good game but different and having lots of options when dealing with quests can leave players a bit confused or overwhelmed. The game basically allows you to go about most your business in any way you can think of... which also happens to mean that it's really easy to do the wrong thing and not know you've done it until much, much later when it comes back to bite you in the ass.

I have had Wasteland 2 since last year and the directors cut is a great step up from the plain version. I do love the story and the hard choices in the game are truly hard choices that I struggle with (which is good). I am seeing some bugs in my current play through so yes, might be best to wait a little while before trying it, I have no doubt inxile will fix the bugs.

Wasteland 2 + Director's Cut is definitely one of the best games out there but it just requires insane amount of patience and creativity but the pay off is always excellent.

Article mentioned that very few people actually finished it according to Steam. It's no big surprise because first 5 or 15 hours is slow and kind of a boring at times, but after that, the game becomes golden.

Big difference you'll see is of course the gameplay but also how the story is told. Wasteland 2 is way more wackier than Fallout games. Popculture references is almost every corner and dark humor is sometimes way over the top, but I love it.

Oh and Wasteland 2 feels like there's 2 games inside, Arizona and California. California is obviously the best.

I like his take on game violence, over-excited parents and Fox News. Nailed it.

Didn't even know you could kill children in the first fallout, unless, he's speaking of wasteland, not to sure though.

I think a lot of people who bought Wasteland 2 got it on GoG(drm free). I know I did, and I beat it. Haven't checked out the director's cut yet, but it does add improvements with quirks and perks, I think it adds more voice acting, so I may give it another go.

I've had Wasteland 2 since the KS and the only reason why I've never finished it is because I have fun creating new characters and just starting over. I'm on my 20th or so play through it and I haven't even left AG Center yet.

I love both Bethesda's Fallout and Wasteland 2 - just for different reasons.

Wasteland 2 is pretty good, tough and requires considerable patience, but it's pretty good. Hoping to resume with it soon once I can find time for it.

I'm one of those who never finished Wasteland 2. I have a feeling I wasn't that far from completing it, though. I had made it to California and my characters were in Hollywood the last time I played. But, games like that tend to only grip me as long as I maintain momentum playing. Take a break and I never get back to them. I didn't finish Pillars of Eternity, either.

I liked Wasteland 2's writing, choices and consequences, and tactical combat. I wasn't crazy about the setting, though - it seemed really dry, but since I haven't played the first Wasteland extensively that might be due to its status as a sequel. I really need to get around to finishing Wasteland 2 one of these days.

I think the interviewer and Brian Fargo hit the nail on the head in regard to the difference in tone between Bethesda's Fallout, and the tone in Black Isle/Obsidian/InXile's post-apocalyptic RPGs.

If it's the US copy, or an uncensored European copy you can.

LOL i read the article and laughs, they compare 2 different game, u can go and compare Wasteland 2 with Fallout 2, but with Falllout 4 is just a waste, i mean Bethesda Fallout move away from the full RPG the Wasteland 2 use and become a more Action RPG game.

And they are still mad they lose the rights to make more fallout game.

But one of the part i hate on the interview, is the part how they speak how Wasteland 2 go to really dark places, same as fallout 1 or 2 like killing children, and they can live with bc is a isometric game, if they make it first person and add the option of killing children's u will have every parent or association complying about it.

I think you misunderstand what the article is about, they are showing how both games are different. I don't see any "mad they lose the rights to make more fallout game" either.

I'm playing Wasteland 2 Director's Cut now, and it is a very good game. I never finished my first playthrough (was close to heading from Arizona to California, but didn't quite get there). I put it on hold when I heard they were releasing a new version, and that saves would not be compatible. Unfortunately, I may not finish this one either, due to the timing. The DC was supposed to come out in the summer rather than October. I don't think I'm going to get through it before Fallout 4 arrives, at which time all other games will be put on hold for at least several months.

Did you try the Director's Cut? That makes the beginning of the game easier.

Wasteland 2 teaches you that you just can't do everything. Combat too difficult? Just reduce it to easiest difficulty. Should be piss easy then.

I really don't like the way Brian Fargo takes all the credit for the original Fallouts in this article. He was just a suit who spit up a couple ideas here and there. Also, Bethesda was not spawned from Interplay, Bethesda has been in business since 1986 and have been making rpgs since 1994.

This all just comes off as a PR piece for InXile really.

Yeah, same.

I love Fallout 3 and Wasteland 2. I will admit I cringed at certain parts in Wasteland 2 though. Some of the dark humor is a little too goofy and over the top. That said, so is Borderlands but that ranks as my favorite game of all time.
