F3 wasteland healing

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 1:41 am

In my opinion F3 could have been cooler if with the good ending and some kinds of side quests the wasteland could heal and slowly in some ways return to a form of society. And if there are things that could be added to my statement enlighten me.
This is meant to be an open what if thread. :gun:
but please dont flame :flame:

Well perhaps your right... But personally I tend to like smaller victories. To be honest most of the games really (well about half of em heh) have been pretty dark and not exactly happy endings. And for me that just fits not to derail this or anything but the NCR/Brotherhood/ even Enclave supporters actually worry me a bit and it kinda of fits along with the healing the wasteland bit. If things well start looking up than it ceases to be Fallout (I mean looking up in a long term type way).. well for me at least. Not that I have not liked the factions just to by my line of thinking they all need to fail at some point or its another game all together. Heck in 3 aside from the project purity, you had the chance not to off Harold and perhaps spread the oasis over the area, heh which is more than i would have given a player a chance to affect unless it comes around in 25 years to bite them in the ass ya know.

I just kinda figure we really broke it this time (meaning the world) and theres no fixing it this time.

I though, before Broken Steel, that after you sacrifice in the ending the wasteland will flourish. It will come alive and be green again with the help Harold, if you did the quest the way where he expands, the water will be clean, settlements will survive and expand with the clean water and new ones will emerge around the river, the strength and the influence of the Brotherhood, now when the Enlcave has retreated the Capital Wasteland (or so I thought) would have an easier time defending civilians against raiders, super mutants will be wiped out since you told Lyons about Vault 87 and I doubt he'd ignore that, slaver business will go bad if you help the escaping slaves. Yeah. Huge changes. But then Broken Steel came and kind of cheapened the already cheap ending (because the ending didn't tell us any consequences of our actions, just our karma level and what option we chose at the end, like we didn't know it already) Huge changes that couldn't be pictured in post-end gameplay, they just bottled the water and shipped it to a few settlements, I thought the whole river was gonna get cleaned of radiation, wasn't that the goal of the project? And if you were evil instead and applied the virus that would kill all the mutations in the wasteland... why aren't everyone in the wasteland dead? Everyone gets their water from pretty much the same source, and everyone needs to drink. Broken Steel just felt weird with the consequences post-ending gameplay, they were soooo minor.
