Wasteland Hunting

The actual hunting aspect of FNV hardcoe has me shiver with excitement, being hunter IRL I found this aspect extremely gratifying.
Thoughts?

I didn't even know there was a Hunting aspect. I don't want to know more but that sounds cool to me too.

You get hungry so you either have to hunt or never get far from a restaurant, because inventory space is a valuable resource.
Oops i told you more.

Oh, you guys mean weight limits. Between the inevitable creature encounters and the food lying around buildings/abandoned grocery stores I'll probably never run out of things to eat.

Weight Limit... ammo will have weight so less inventory space will be open...

Considering the mods they took the inspiration of hardcoe mode from, don't count on it.

Especially as ammo has weight and you have to carry around plenty of water too ...

It's been shown that you can take like a brahmin steak and like a prickley pear or something and make something new with it at a camp fire

Hunting Necessities

high Survival skill

Varmint Rifle

Hunter perk

Friend of the Dark?

Animal friend/depends- Easy animal magnet without this perk but with this perk you can line up an easy shot on a neutral animal while they stare blankly at you.

There'll definitely be some advantage to hunting. Scavenging ancient cheese doodles and blamco mac and cheese is all well and good, but once you've cleaned out every ruin and homestead between Arizona and California you're going to have to either shoot or buy your dinner.

It may sound somewhat crooked, and it is, but I like to use the Animal Friend perk to hunt. It's sort of the equivalent of dousing yourself in buck urine to hunt deer.

Normally, hunting turns into a battle for survival because as soon as your quarry detects you, him and all his buddies will charge you and gnaw you to death. That doesn't feel like hunting, that feels like every walk through the wastes I've ever taken.

Sure, you could sneak around all day, but I like the convenience of having every wild animal be at ease around me. Then I can sit back, line up my shots, and put that fooooood on the table.

Well that Hunter perk (Thanks Erik) makes hunting without perma-sneak viable, as you wont get jumped by deathclaws at random anymore (Unless you took WW trait) and that makes huntin Lurks, Coyotes, 'n other critters more viable. by that i mean animals dont spawn looking for you if your not in perma-sneak like in fallout 3.

You know, if I hadn't gone hunting a bunch with my dad, that sentence would sound really weird to me.

Welcome to The Lodge, my fellow. Here we exchange hunting stories, tips, and harsh words, among other things. Anyone notice the Alpha Deathclaw head i mounted? shot it in the heart to keep the head nice, almost missed.

Yes, absolutely. To me a game with a post apocalyptic setting is the perfect thing for a hunting and survival element (it amazes me F3 ignored this potential).

I was excited when I heard you could hunt in Red Dead Redemption. I'd read survival was to be a big part of the game and hunting would be essiential. As it turns out that couldn't have been more wrong. Hunting was simply an optional pass time. Another game that completely missed a gold mine of enjoyment potential.

Ah, a fellow hunter! Allow me treat you to a whiskey and some Yao Guai steak.

I am extremely excited to go on a post-nuclear hunting safari.

With FWE in Fallout 3, I would put on a Merc Grunt outfit and go outside Megaton and hunt molerats to stock up on food. When I ran out, I did it again. This will be fun to do with all of the new creatures and using Survival.
