What I was trying to say before was, that because Fallout was sort of inspired by Wasteland, are people who haven't even played Wasteland supporting this because they believe it will be more true to the first Fallout games than the newer Fallout games are.

Great many people probably are. But Wasteland 2 is not just a sequel aimed for fans of Wasteland, it is an old school turnbased cRPG aimed for fans of that particular genre (Fallout, Icewind Dale, Planescape: Torment, Baldurs Gate, etc). The setting (and the history of WL being the father of Fallout) makes the Fallout comparison inevitable and likely the most accurate, but cRPG fans from the 90's in general are, as I've understood it, are the target audience.

Pretty low amount of donators in the game, but im suprised that it got so much money already. So no wonder nobody is doing or publishers doesnt allow developers to make these kind of games today as it would not be profitable in normal markets.

So i think it is a brilliant idea for getting money for the this type of game. This tactics could work also on other marginal game styles too what would not generate enough money in normal markets to attract investors. Maybe freespace 3 could use simiral approach too.. :/

What are you talking about? It made over half a million in 24 hours without anyone knowing anything about the game but a title and general concept. If anything, this proves that the market is there.

Looking forward to the 1.5 million mark. And perhaps even beyond (I can be optimistic too when the time is right).

$1 is a minimum.

$15 gets you the game (download version).

That ain't much, and every bit helps.

Well that's unfortunate.

But, there's still 33 days left to pledge. If you can get some extra during that time, it's all worth it.

Did you know that they've only been getting donations for about a day? It got more investments in a day than most big titles would get in two.

Publishers are iffy because they think the old school market is dead and gone, which is understandable compared to the modern shooter market making companies rich. I'm sure it would be just as profitable there as it is on Kickstart.

I'd like to see Obsidian get the rights to their own game and use Kickstarter to make it. That'd be interesting and could set them up so that they don't have to take bad deals with smaller titles from big companies to get by.

Much? When it comes out?
Do you mean when the deadline is over for the KIckstarter funding or the actual release date?

Well, it could not be made with the one million if publisher would be in. They would need to get their share too. And prize tag for current wasteland game would be 56 dollars per game in order to get 776k money. Thats high prize tag for a old school game. But it will probably become lower later. Also this is kind of gambling, you guys dont know if it will be good game or if it will ever be released. Even if they get money from fans, it doesnt mean that they magically gets good resource management/leadership. Many projects fall into poor leadership and poor management and this could happen to this game too.

Well I just gave my $15. I would want to give $100 but I'm kind of low on funds at the moment and the release is so far away, and never playing Wasteland, or any other(than Fallout) of Brian Fargo's games for that matter, I can't be sure if I would like it enough to spend that much without really having any preview of the game , but it seems to be in good hands, made by passionate developers for the gamers.

I wonder if the success of this project would have any influence on Bethesda's approach to future Fallout games.

I don't think you understand who's working on Wasteland 2. It's not just some guys looking to make a sequel to Wasteland, it's the original creators of Wasteland 2, who are working on this, and leading it. And after seeing their previous work (Wasteland, Fallout, and Fallout 2), I can say it's obviously under good management/leadership.

Also, I gave $50. Was going to spend that on a future game anyway, so I figure why not get in on helping develop that future game?

That is not a factor.

The original creators of Wasteland and the original Fallouts are working on this so we now that it will at least turn out good.

You really should know a topic before making statements about it. Not being mean; just some friendly advice.
