Wasteland 2 Kickstarter - It's on!

Post » Wed May 02, 2012 10:30 pm

Seeing as how Fallout was a spiritual successor to Wasteland and Brian Fargo originally wanted to develop Wasteland 2 but couldn't at the time and developed Fallout: A Post-Nuclear Role Playing Game instead I thought it'd be interesting to note that Wasteland 2 is now running it's KIckstarter funding:

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/inxile/wasteland-2

Make sure to donate people, if we ever want cRPG's back then Wasteland 2 is one of our best chances.

I'm gonna find a friend who has a credit card and then ask of him to donate for me, I think I'll donate 15$ now and 50$ early next month.

(And seeing as how close Fallout is to Wasteland I do think this is the correct forum for it.)

Oh and they've already gotten 253,945 / 900,000 within the first day, I wonder how much they'll reach before 24 hours.

Update: 259,369$

If you go 50, remember to put in extra 15 for the shipping costs of the box if you decide to the get that reward (there's a small FAQ at the bottom of the front page that tells you this and a couple of other things, in case you did not notice).

I already hauled a 115 there. Now I'm probably rolling my thumbs and checking status updates for the next 18 months (provided, of course, that the money keeps flowing in - which I'm sure it will seeing as the first 250k came in 8 hours).

Yup, 75 is my plan, though if I do have money over as I think my last payment for my computer is just 400 kronors then I might donate a full 100 bucks.

I love how Brian parodies typical publishers! x)

Oh, if I only had the money, then I'd donate $1000 and have the honour of being an NPC in the game with the face modeled after mine... or $5000 and they build a statue of you in the game x) hehehe

Notch already pledged 10k, and Epic Games' CEO (or something) gave 5k. (fun fact)

According to Fargo, the parodies have more truth in them than you'd believe. (another fun fact)

I never played Wasteland, and I'm wondering how many people are like me and are only supporting this because they want to see a game that is similar to the original Fallouts.

I'm pretty sure it was the "kick start" to the fallout series. There are many wasteland references to it in Fallout.

I'm not sure what you are trying to say in relation to my comment.
Also, References to "it" ...is the "it" Wasteland, that last sentence was confusing.

Well yes, but that's kind of the basis of my comment.

What do you mean basis? It is a fact that without Wasteland there wouldn't be Fallout. Tim Cain and the others at Interplay that created Fallout have made that pretty clear.

There are refrences in Fallout to the game Wasteland.

By Fallout I am talking about the first Fallout game. But without the first Fallout, there wouldn't be a Fallout series.

What I was trying to say before was, that because Fallout was sort of inspired by Wasteland, are people who haven't even played Wasteland supporting this because they believe it will be more true to the first Fallout games than the newer Fallout games are.

Actually the only reason Fallout exists is because the creators of Wasteland (Interplay) lost the rights to EA and wanted to do more post-apocalyptic RPGs.

And I am going to support it if I can for that reason. I would enjoy a new game similar to F1 and F2.

Holy [censored], 590,000 already, and still 33 days to go!

I don't think I've been this excited over a video game since I first heard about Van Buren being made.
