I have been suspecting for a while now that there is a bug with rare drops in the wasteland. I finally have proof!

I was looking over my wasteland quest logs and saw a "Heavy Vault Suit", which is supposed to be a gold/legendary +7 Per suit. I throughly checked my inventory. No such item. So I took a screenshot as evidence...

The Heavy Vault Suit showed up in my Survival Guide along with about 10 other rare outfits I've never seen that probably were eaten by the bug. This only seems to be happening with outfits. I have never found a gold/legendary weapon outside of a lunchbox (so there may be another issue) but I have no unfamiliar gold weapons appearing in the survival guide.

Interesting, I'll need to pay better attention to the explorer log.

This would explain why I am seeing outfits in my collection which do not appear in inventory. If true then this would be a major dissapointment.


Having said that, I sent out a batch of explorers over thr weekend who have collected some rare outfits, the horror fan outfit, engineer outfit, sturdy raider armour, librarian outfit and professor outfit.


Never found a suit of power armour yet though.


Bethesda can you confirm if this is a known bug? I think you should by now be telling us which bugs you have acknowledged and working on fixing in the next update patch.

I just confirmed this today. I have had an explorer out for 4.5 days now and upon checking up on him noticed he picked up a GAUSS Rifle, only it never showed up in his inventory nor is he carrying it in his hands. AAAAWWWWWW!!! FRUSTRATING GAME! Someone can help I would appreciate it...like Bethesda fixing this buggy game!

Yep same thing here. I had two librarian outfit found by an explorer and when I collected, they never showed up. I checked the pip boy and the librarian outfit was not unlocked either. ;(;(

I'm not entirely sure how, but my Victory Rifle seems to have rusted.

I sent star paladin cross in to the wasteland. And was pleasantly surprised when I saw the legendary victory rifle in her inventory. It was still there in the leftmost item slot when when she returned to my vault. However after I pressed collect, the victory rifle was not in my inventory, nor was it unlocked in my wasteland survival guide collection. The only new entry in the collection was a rusty sniper rifle. I did not check cross's complete inventory upon return so I don't know if this item was in her inventory as well, or if the legendary weapon was somehow swapped.
