Wasteland Thieves Guild?

Or is that a bit redundant? I would like to steal some books or medicines for some people. I also wouldn't mind heisting every casino in the game. It would at least be nice if NPC's got mad at me for taking those snow globes.

There was one in Fallout 1 but it was just a group of crazy people.

You can sell anything to anybody so you could role play giving the poor medicine.

And those snow globes aren't their's, they're Mr. House's and nobody cares about them because they just found them there.

Doesn't really fit in the setting where everyone is sort of fighting for survival and theft is more "accepted" in the sense that it's accepted as a part of life, instead of as a crime that can be reported.

Don't get me wrong, NCR/House/the Legion would care, but I think most bystanders would just think "oh look a thief" rather than "we gotta catch him!!!" Kinda defeats the purpose?

Yeah that's what I was thinking too. Total bummer. I guess I'll just have to use my imagination.

Well, there's the Powder Gangers, but it's more of an armed robbery concept.

Thieving would be redundant. Most people in towns like Freeside are used to thugs running around and stealing stuff. Plus in a game like Skyrim, you can only sell stolen stuff to the Thieves guild (unless your speech is high enough). Whereas in Fallout you can sell anything to anyone, no questions asked. The quests would still be thrilling i'm sure, breaking into a legion camp or trying to steal from the Lucky 38. I can see it being thrilling, but not nearly as exciting as a TES game.

But i'm sure you could easily find someone that you CAN sell it to.

No, FONV does'nt need a thieves guild because you can sell your stolen stuff to most people.

Also, theres no formal justice in the MW. No police, only securitrons and guards. No prisons apart from the one were the powder gangers broke out of and took over. The NCR is more civilised and normal.
So you don't need them to get out of jail or anything.
If you break the law or cross someone you die. Your reputation with the area or faction suffers if seen.

People don't care about crime so much they report it or anything. They just attack you if they're bothered.

The Powder Gangers are highwaymen of a sort.
I actually quite like them. They've a reason to be angry after being treated like slave labour.
You can do stuff for them.

And the Omertas are like gangsters.
You can be allies with Cachino, for good or neutrel. Or for evil side with Nero and the other one. But they're idiots and not good for anyone. Not good for the Omertas, the strip, or themselves even.

That's not true, the Securitrons do act as a police force, they only exterminate threats. But they arrest people, as dialogue indicates. There's even a small jail area in the Strip's MP quarters. Plus, MP=Military POLICE, while they arent police police, they are a semblance of law and order.

Right. I'm either good, not seen doign criminal things, or I slaughter entire factions in their bases because the quest bugged out or I felt like it. Never been arrested, lol. I don't destroy the strip or anything, not picking a fight with securitrons, I like them.
So never saw the prison part.
The only time I saw a NCR MP try to arrest me, was when one appeared for no reason and attacked me whenever I woke up having slept. I had a high reputation with the NCR, it made no sense. I ended up going to the lucky 38 and killing him there, so no one saw it.
