Wasteland Workshop = Pokemon?

Post » Thu Mar 17, 2016 10:46 pm

Am I the only one that thinks the Wasteland Workshop sounds a bit like Pokemon? I mean you capture people/creatures to battle them. I can see it now:

Sole Surviver releases Raider

Kelog releases Deathclaw

Ss: Use Taunt

Raider: I'm going to kill you!

Deathclaw: *slowly turns head towards Raider*

Raide: *trimbles as warm liquid flows down his leg*

*Taunt was ineffective*

Kelog: Use Swipe!

Deathclaw: *swipes at Raider sending a chunky bloody mess into the cheering crowd*

*It was super effective*

It's about kids that summon monsters, but before they can summon these monsters they first need to defeat them and capture them. If you can't understand something that simple, then your age is not the problem.

i was a bit exaggerating.

of course i know pokemon... old people are not from mars *g*

and we had our share of badly drawn, cheaply made series too.

only difference:

in my time:

if this crap was successfull, some mercandising was tried

today:

we have a product, lets make a series to promote it.

I just hope they add the Fallout version of the Pokemon battle theme.

Someone did mention how "Stingwing" sounds like a Pokemon before release :lmao:

A wild Stingwing appears.
Player fires Gauss Rifle of Fire +2
It's super effective!

Many civilisations had a whole industry built upon capturing something or somebody and then made them fight in real life, like the Romans. Some countrys even have chicken or dog fights still. It sounds more gladatorial than Pokemon to me.

I hope they have Pokemon Easter eggs. Maybe a Deathclaw named Charizard and a Mirelurk name Blastoise.

Pokemon? No, try Mad Max. I know, Fallout drawing inspiration from Mad Max? Who ever heard of such a crazy idea.

I can see it now; the cheering crowds, the line "Who runs Sanctuary? Sole Survivor runs Sanctuary! 2 men enter, 1 man leaves!"

Why is it that some gamers immediately associate capturing something with Pokemon? No, it's not going to be like Pokemon and no it doesn't sound like Pokemon.....

I wanna be the very best,

like no none one ever was.

To catch them is my real test,

To train them is my cause.

I will travel across the wastes,

Searching far and wide,

Each Deathclaw to understand,

The power that's inside,

Wasteland Workshop!

Gotta catch 'em all!

Do we have to spam A button when capturing them too in hope that they don't break out the ball?

I wonder how Bethesda will prevent modders accessing that super rare final one that's only awarded to limited numbers of people at special events?

I do hope that after a supermutant or raider has won enough battles we can somehow reward them by letting them stay as a settler. If it's just capture and watch them fight and that's it, the novelty will wear off after awhile. I hope there is some sort of system to it so it becomes more appealing. You can already see groups of enemies fighting each other randomly around the game itself.

I'm guessing these can die. Lovely - a mode where we get to regularly reload every time our monster's head falls off.

I didn't at first, but I'm definitely going to catch an army of molerats/Sandshrews and Stingwings/Beedrills now.

Whaaaaat?!

A Mirelurk named Blastoise!?

Kingler maybe, and Crawdaunt for the Mirelurk Hunters (I have a Shiny Crawdaunt btw).

And a Deathclaw called Charizard? PFFFTT!!!

Hopefully they'll call him Kecleon and give him stubby arms instead.

Miltank Brahmin anyone?

No, you hold Down + B. Works 69% of the time. ;)

@Trannigan : Beedrill? Way more Yanma or Yanmega imo.

And Sandslash is too cool for Fallout.

Trubbish perhaps?
