Water purification only works sometimes

Post » Sat Nov 28, 2015 12:29 am

I got the big plant running, but in 10 game days it has only produced 2 batches. Anyone else having this problem?

Maybe it produces based of how many inhabitants there is in that settlement? or perhaps happyness?

It says the productivity for the settlement is based of the happyness level.

Just what i'd think could affect it.

The water purifier doesn't produce 'batches' as such, it provides a base increase to the available water total. Either your game is bugged or you haven't hooked your purifiers up to a working generator. I believe it can give you occasional pure water supply to sell to a local store but that's a fringe benefit that will earn you tax income IIRC. It's not really designed to be a big earner.

water plant makes bottles of purified water that add to your workshop inventory.

every settler uses 1 food & 1 water a day to survive.

if you link settlements to eachother through "provisioners" you make these settlements share food, water, building material etc.

if you have linked for ex multiple settlements to your big settlement that provides water etc, you won't have extra cause the people at the other settlement are drinking from your supply aswell.

My settlement is not linked. I got 27 people and produce 64 water-40 coming from the plant. My hapiness is 74, electricity 15, food 60, defense 108. I will build two more big plants to see if it makes a difference. My resource/defense ratio will not like it thou...

Edit: I just found a fresh batch of 25 bottles in my workshop inventory. I didnt build anything new yet, just slept for one hour.

yeah the excess water should end up in your workbench, but how much the settlers actually consume i have no idea.

But i cant really say i see the issue, if you want purewater to sell for caps, you should just supersize it and run as many water generators u can.. dont bother about the defence, because if attackers hits your facilities you will have to repair nonetheless.

refering to my post there:

http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1558314-settlement-defence-pointless/

A settlement that gets attacked, it wont matter how much defence u have, if you are not present while the attack happens, it will automaticly damage turrets and water purifiers to a broken condition, where you will need to repair the damaged machinery.

And yes this happens no matter how much defence you have... because as soon as the settlement is under attack.. there is a premade script which executes and makes your turrets and water purifier damaged, it will also damage any generator connected to any electric powerd turrets. and it will do this wether it is 1 attacking radroach, or if it is 1000 legendary supermutants attacking the settlement.

Ontop of this.. it is also set to take out a random number of your viable crops.

My issue is not how much of the purified water is taken by the settlers (its about 15 out of 40), but the fact that the production only seems to happen twice per week. I currently have no intention to construct lots of purification plants and sell the water, and what i produce now is needed for other things. That might change once i can build heavy laser turrets thou. :liplick:

Edit: And i plan to take part in any settlement defenses until the script [censored] gets fixed.

I think the resource system is a little flawed... i've noticed a lot of weird things happening.. which i'm not going to elaborate on here...

But visiting the settlement which has the water production often... might increase productivity.

I don't get any spare purified water either. I built 2 industrial and 9 medium purifiers in starlight diner. (Yeah, really just in that tiny pool of water xD) That makes 170 water production in that settlement. My settlements are not linked and I have only 11 settlers there. But I don't get any additional purified water in the workbench. I tried sleeping 24 hours. I tried just wandering the wastelands and doin' quests. Nothing.

Can someone really say for sure that you get additional purified water in the workbench with a setup like this? Or is it just a myth that overproduction gets stored in the workbench?

Or does anyone know of a bug and what I can do?

You definately get surplus purified water in your workbench inventory. That is a fact. Just not every day as it should be. Its buggy, like the food production, the bed assignment and some other things.

I have had three industrial purifiers working in sanctuary for a while now and I have not received any purified water in my workshop. Have been running around doing missions for quite some time and came back expecting to find a significant quantity of purified water and found nothing.
