Water Ripples in Skyrim .

Post » Mon Aug 22, 2011 12:00 am

The water in Skyrim looks beautiful and the water physics look amazing , but the water ripples look fairly outdated visually , they look identical to those of Oblivion .That's probably why Todd didn't want to go into the water .....

I thought the ripples looked fantastic!

That was one of the parts of the demo I liked the most.

The technoloedgy is outdated what did you expect Crysis water?? And its poor quality that has some reason to it as well.

@Winotaur the game is as finished as its going to get in the graphics department

That water itself looked pretty impressive but the ripple animation is very unrealistic , he walked through water , not drop a perfectly spherical ball in it ,,,multiple times .....to give those perfectly round ripples ...

@Salidin Perhaps not as the loading times were too long for the detail of the world and overall everything is being optimized.

Water ripples looked perfectly fine, better than Oblivion, a little better than Morrowind (I have no idea why that game had better water). The rapids are the things that don't look that good.

The game is pretty much done, things like water physics and what not should be done. Should be around the beta testing stage.

Yes they are dated. What else could we expect from a console-built game ported to PC, tho? :(

Overall the game looks great for a console port but we cant expect cutting edge tech here. The good news is that itll run on low to mid range computers without a hitch...

Those of us with high-end rigs, well, we'll be able to handle the mods, I guess!

Still graphics part is done at least in the general view. Ripples will be the same, smaller things you will not notice unless they are not fixed is what they would be working on for awhile now. PC version however I suspect to be better at least I can hope..

But either way ya main thing Beth is working on now is Optimization, check, fix as much as they can and more optimization, check, release. Then start the patching process.

We have the right to discuss anything about the game , now matter how insignificant you may lead yourself to believe it was. If you're not interested don't post ....

I don't think Todd wanted to go in because the swimming animation probably is being tweaked. Reiner did say it was a little rough in his GI preview. Water looks amazing though!

They could just use the Oblivion animation , like they obviously did with the ripple animation "Sigh" :shakehead: They still have more than 100 days to polish the animations though , keep your fingers crossed ....

I doubt they'll decide to include tessellated water at the very last moment. So what's included now it's likely what we'll get.
