Waterfall Replacers

Post » Sat May 17, 2014 10:56 pm

I just wanted to throw some feelers out for what waterfall replacers are out there; mainly to see if I am missing any.

The ones I am aware of are by Lougian, AnOldFriend, Masoxx, whatever the bluish retexture of the vanilla is included in Knot's Nature pack, a dark waterfall for Darker Morrowind... and that's it.

I don't actually like any of them, at least not more than the vanilla (which I'm currently using). And I'm curious if I'm missing any good replacers for the waterfalls besides what I've listed here.

Thanks!

I take it you are asking about water retextures for the waterfalls and not actual waterfall replacers (3 of which I found on MMH so far).

Edit: perhaps http://mw.modhistory.com/download--14761, http://mw.modhistory.com/download--12667,

Apel I think was working on one (if you mean the waterfalls that you see in vivec)

Well, I'd also be cool with a mesh replacer. But I don't think either of those replace waterfalls. But I'll check out the MGE water textures pack anyway.

I mean the Vivec and Old Mournhold waterfalls; which encompass all the waterfalls you see in the game. I wasn't aware Apel was working on one, but I'd prefer to find one that's available right now.

Perhaps this is all we have.

Dongle's isn't a replacer, per se, but he has several different waterfalls in the pack. He calls them by their shape, but the one called "rectangular rapid" is making a beautiful extended waterfall in a mod I'm working on. They fit together end-to-end so it can be as long as you need it to be. With a nice tex replacer, the vanilla meshes don't look too bad to me, but I have upwards of five sets of water textures to choose from right now.

What, pray tell, are those water textures that you have to choose from?

It's mostly the textures that I am interested in.

I couldn't tell you where they're from originally, but I got a set from MGE, some from NoM, a set from TR, I believe, possibly an earlier release if they aren't in Sacred East, the set included with Dongle's waterpack, both the original and the updated version . . . to name a few. I have water textures loose in the textures folder and within a subfolder called water, as well as those in the individual modders' folders. I don't know what set came with MGSO, but I have that too.

FWIW, the set Dongle's points to have (2) in their names, as if he kept all of his water texture sets in one folder and just kept auto-renaming them. I did have a path issue with the reflection texture, as it was in the nif as "water\texturename.dds" instead of "Textures\water\texturename.dds"

I had made a waterfall replacer in the past, I don't remember where I had uploaded the files, I'll probably release it with a misc mod pack thing I'm planning on releasing soon.

Thanks for the info, Elaura!

I'd certainly be interested in trying something new!
